i could work
nintendo would not emulate but remake the games to work on 3ds ssbm on 3ds ftw
as far as a disk drive or emulation is not possible
even if a disk drive was attached through the cart reader and the 3ds had an emulator from sdcard, it still might not have the hardware
and the gamecuble only has 2
the main one and the c stick
the only missing buttons are c stick
z is select
most games dont even use the c stick that often
gamecube would be cool though

ok, first, forget the 3 analog stick problem because, WE HAVE A TOUCH SCREEN
you can put whatever buttons you want on there

ALSO, we know that 3DS games are gonna be minimum 2GB
and most gamecube games are only 1.5GB
and you know what, maybe nintendo will surprise us
none of us have seen what the graphics look lyk on the 3DS
maybe their completely amazing
I mean, all we've seen so far is blurry pictures of 3D, so we really won't know what it can do until we pick it up any play it

and also, I'm 90% sure that is WILL be able to play N64 roms WAY better than the PSP, and that it may even possibly play PSX games, and I will stand by that
and MAYBE, just MAYBE
one of the crappy gamecube games will be the first to actually work on an emulator

Stopped reading there. How do we know they are ALL going to be AT LEAST 2 GB?

I thought it was a rumor that they would be 2 GB average... Never confirmed. Can't call a rumor fact.

Kidding. I read your whole post.

I agree, N64 emulation BETTER be better on the 3DS than the PSP. >:(

Game size isn't the problem, if it actually factored in, we would be able to play games for every system on the 3DS.
Also, as Schlupi said, they won't all be 2GB. Though I do agree the N64 emulation better be better.

What we all know is that 2 GB is actually the initial size maximum. So, not really likely to be even the average.

Gamecube never had 3 analogue sticks... There are two, and a d-pad, an L and R button, ABXY, and start. That's it.

And that 8gb is an available maximum, but will likely be used for very few games, similar to the Wii.

The issue is not the controls or the size. I don't understand how you can judge the plausibility of a Gamecube emulator purely by how 3DS graphics look like, but even still, you even admitted that nobody knows for sure until we have a unit in our hands. Then what is the point of discussion? It's just blind speculation on a topic you know nothing about (and admittedly, I know nothing about as well).

The best you can hope for is for Nintendo to port Gamecube games over to the 3DS, much like they did for Super Mario 64 DS. But, if they do that, it's going to be a very small library.

i can almost garentee a luigis mansion port since they wanted it 3d and it was not easy with gamecube
i dont know of any other ports except maybe mario sunshine

Luigi's mansion is a must, on account of the consistent camera angle and the long halls. the type of 3D effect that the 3DS provides is perfect for Luigis mansion.

people are debating whether or not N64 emulation is possible and now we got a thread on gamecube.
There is no way it will work, I can maybe see Nintendo doing a port [Luigi's mansion like people said above], but total emulation is damn right impossible

C'mon guys, OP clearly knows more than anyone else. The 3DS could emulate Gamecube games, as long as it had a disc attachment. Hell, it could even emulate PS3.

the ps3 has way better graphics so it will be a long shot plus the 3ds will lose battery life pretty fast also it only has 1 anelog stick ps3 emulation wont happen in the years to come

QUOTENope even if it did happen, the Gamecube has 3 Analogs, 3DS only has 1.
dude the gamecube had 2 analogs and a d pad
I made a small typo

Lets be real, nintendo could do ports easily but emulation.... put power aside look at the fiffing 64MB ram! x_x a bit of common sense.

Ono claims SSFIV nearly fills the carts 2GB limit and its just a fighting game, would 8GB be enough in the future? But then again we got RE and MGS on the 2GB limit so it looks pleanty.

No way. I really wish it was possible because there's a ton of GC games I want to play like Wind Waker that I never got to, but it's not happening with this one.

Might be possible with the NGP though.

what's the NGP?
I'm going to assume you're not joking.

NGP=PSP2

NGP was confusing me as well... I've always known NGP as NeoGeo Pocket.

I think 3DS will be able to emulate PS3 and NGP at the same time (multitasking), will be hackable with old DS flashcarts and there will be plenty of viruses. Nintendo will also provide PC emulator for free.

But will it be able to play Crysis thought?

the top screen SHOULD have enough power, all you need is a disk drive to do all the work
That's not actually how any of the parts you mentioned work. At all.

I suggest you go back to the drawing board and study more on how computers, game systems, and emulation works (in that order).

Is it confirmed by Nintendo yet?
The stolen 3DS showed 96MB ram.
