Following the recent news that famous security engineer Andy Nguyen has managed to enable debug settings on his own PlayStation 5, we are now receiving claims that the well-known hacking group fail0verflow have been able to extract all symmetric PS5 root keys, including per-console root keys.

While not much information is yet known about the process, it's worth noting that although they are claiming to be able to read the keys for encrypted files, it is likely not possible at this point to re-sign modified files in a way that the system would accept them. However, this remains a very positive first step into gaining further understanding in to how the PlayStation 5 works.

It is worth mentioning that fail0verflow are famously anti-piracy and once decided against releasing their Wii U exploit knowing it would result in software piracy.

Hope this leads to full game archiving/backing up similar to PS3. Even though I don't own a PS5, it really excites me since this may lead to an actual CFW in the future.

is it just me or is the PS scene the worst if it comes down to homebrew/hacking?
I feel like all they care about is pirating games and nothing else.

PS outside of games doesnt offer much. Nintendo as shitty as they are at least have portability, microsoft has shittons of services like gamepass, and valve has steam which alone makes them a good competitor (also they'll have portability soon)
Why should they focus on much more than just getting the games in a state where they can be readily be pirated?

And we can prove in this forum the disrespect towards hackers that can make this happen for them to get games and play for free, but show such hate if its turned into a paid for product.

These ignorant fools are why hackers and coders dont share their work, because they expect everything to be handed to them for free, so they can play games without paying for them.

Recentky had exactly this for the switch, some n00bie asking if the switch will ever get hacked without having to buy a sx chip of clone, then had the balls to call the hackers that made this possible (while no one else has) as trash.

Everyone showed 0 respect to tx who have been one the scene since the xbox, back then no onr had an issue, but as time goes on, hackers, once they know the ins and out of a console then release a publicly free method.

So because there is the free option, they disrespect the paid for version, which for the switch was always the easier option.

But they got dissed when they announced the new consoles that were unhackable as been fake, sx os are just thieves, yet they remain the only ones to have provided a means to run homebrew and pirate games on the unhackable switch consoles.

And the hate is simply because they refuse to pay a few quid in order to never have to pay for a game.

Expect everything to he handed to them for free.

Whereas those that respect the scene do not diss the work these guys put in, who cares if they want to try make money off their free time, you get a servixe at the end of the day, but wr also buy our games and own multiple consoles.

The same can be said on this forum regarding cheat codes, everyone begs for them, but rarely thank the author or think of making a donation.

We see fake accounts on here and one tit especially using the profile @Iliak That steals codes that we make for free and goes against our wishes that we do not want them posted on his site, but he sends his minions to steal and post to his site, dont even credit the author or seek permission, but he tries to profit off our work and we get fuck all from it.

He has been called out many times, but he ignores and he seems to think when we report his site for stealing codes he has not created, that he can seek legal damages.

He ignores tags and messages on here to put a stop to users stealing off here against our wishes, and when you report on his site and link here, he again ignores and keeps the content on his site.

This disrespect id why coders make coses, show footage and the idiots that think they have rigjt to this work for free, then slag them off because they keep it under lock and key.

Because they trash talk to hackers and coders that dont get paid, and these n00bs expect it to he handed to them when we run this risk of facing legal action.

So like why many coders have fucked off because of cheatslips and Illiak taking the piss, i myself left the 3ds scene and i am confident the twat stealing my codes and taking credit is the samr twat behind cheatdicks, but we then decide to fuck off and dont share our work.

The same applies to hackers, when a new console comes out, everyone demands they release their work for free and they expect a free cfw or exploit and when they dont get it and left with a paid for product, theyre slated.

PS5 games are fairly affordable right now, mainly second hand. But even a somewhat new game like Lost Judgement is currently £40 brand new off Amazon. I managed to get a PS5 yesterday and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart only cost me £40 second hand (Love the game so far).

yep, this too. also it's not like PS5 has hidden features that we want to unlock anyway. Ps4 compatibility is already there from default. PSX/PS2/PS3 compatibility is not existent, and the only way to do it is if someone ported those open source emulators and optimized them (which is kinda redundant anyway).

There is also no point of using your powerful ps5 to play retro video game emulators if you can use other machines such as your phone.

At this rate, jailbreak is only useful if it added the feature that allow cheating for single player games I guess (or maybe swapping saves).

And here I am, thinking "okay, how many dozens of ps5's would I have to go through to get a working one that can be hacked?" Knowing my history with sony consoles, it's going to exceed seven before I have one that actually works.

PS5 is waaay more powerful than the crappy Jaguar architecture tho. It would be a blast for emulators.

That won't mean anything if nobody can buy the console in the first place.
