First post could be updated to reflect it doesn't run on all flashcarts. I'm willing to test it later on an acekard if no one beats me to it.

EDIT: Must be tired missed a whole town =(

Oh, TC. This does work on flashcards that can run the game without the fix. At least, it did for me. First, apply the translation patch to the unfixed rom. Then, apply the fix to the rom. There, problem solved. The game was crashing after certain key parts and places after I had applied the translation patch to an unfixed rom (didn't work on the fixed one), so I decided to try and fix it after applying the translation patch and it worked.

. When i run the tranlation patch, it trims it down to 229mb...so when I run the fix patch it doesnt work correctly. It made the new file appear but it is 0kb.

even on nosgba i get no joy. I get bs japanese msg that i dun understand. The same thing happened to me. Was the Japanese message white text with a black screen? It says "Could not find data. Please re-insert the cartridge."

Are you using no$gba 2.6 a or no$gba 2.6 b?
I was using the latter only to get that message, however, I changed to the 2.6 a and it worked!

I know, that's why I stated on the OP that "IT ONLY WORKS ON FLASHCARDS THAT CAN RUN THIS WITHOUT THE FIX!".
Anyways I'm gonna try your method.

by the way, did anyone get this error when using xdeltaonline?

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

It made a new file of 0kb appear for me too, but after waiting 10 or so seconds it became 229 MB also. However, I used the method from below to patch it with the translation, since the normal method didn't work for me. Name the output file as dq9.nds before running the "fix", of course. I tested it out once more to be sure, and it worked again. Anyway, I'll just make a step by step guide.

Crap :/
If you can't make it work, download the patch from here:
http://stashbox.org/565751/dq9_patch1.patch.xdelta

and use this to apply it:
http://romhacking.net/utils/598/

1. Download an unpatched DQ9 rom
2. Put it in a folder (and give it any name other than DQ9.nds)
3. Download both of the things from the links in the quoted post.
4. Download the fix (sorry, couldn't find link to the fix anymore... hope you have it or can find it yourself)
5. Put them in the same folder, and extract if necessary (may need Winrar for it, which you probably already have)
6. Start up "xdeltaUI"
7. Make sure you're on the "apply patch" tab
8. For "patch", select "dq9_patch1.patch.xdelta"
9. For "source file", select the DQ9 rom.
10. For "output file", name it DQ9.nds
11. Select the "patch" button. A 0 kb file is created, but after waiting 10-30 seconds, it will be around 230 MB and you should get the message that it was a success.
12. Use the fix.

After that, it should work. I hope it helps.
