Nice little thread you got here. Here's a little contribution from me:

QUOTE said:
Intro
Hello? Is someone there?

If you're there, show yourself.
Say something.

I can hear their voices.

How long ago did they come here to protect this world?

They were called angels.
===================================
Bald Angel: You did well, _________. I had my reservations about entrusting you to the protection of this village in my stead, but the villagers seem to be living in peace as a result of your work. I, your teacher Izayaaru(?), can not be any more pleased with what you have done. Henceforth you shall be the protector of Uoruro(?) Village, Guardian Angel _________!

Bald Angel (Izayaaru): Hm!?
===================================
Old Man: Argh, I hate getting old. It's such a pain in the arse!

Rikka: C'mon grandpa! Only a little bit further to the village!
===================================
Monsters Appear
===================================
Izayaaru: This is not good! They'll be attacked by the monsters! Guardian Angel _________, we must carry out our mission.
===================================
Battle
===================================
Post-Battle
Rikka: Look grandpa, there's the village.

Grandpa: Ooh, just when I was about to give up, we just made it back home.

Rikka: Grandpa, you're just exaggerating!

Grandpa: But I'm sure we made it back thanks to guardian angels.

Rikka: (Praying) Thank you for protecting us on our journey, Guardian Angel _________ (green light floats from her hands to the guardian angel, they walk off).

Izayaaru: That's a Star Aura. It's a crystal made out of the prayers of thanks from the villagers. It is also our duty to offer these Star Auras to the World Tree in the world of angels. Guardian Angel _________, for now let us return to the angel world (both fly away).
===================================
Arrival at the Angel World
Izayaaru: Now...Upon returning from the earth, it is tradition to report to Elder Omui-sama. He is in the Chamber of Elders. I have other work to do, so you go on ahead.

Here is where you assume control of the character for the first time.

~D3k

*EDIT 1*
At this point, pressing Y calls up a screen that says "The Story so Far":
_________ succeeds his mentor Iyazaaru as the guardian angel of Uoruro(?) Village.

He has been charged with the duty of helping people and collecting Star Auras to offer to the World Tree.

*EDIT 2*
Pressing (and holding) B calls up a menu that allows you to perform different types of movements. The only one available (by holding B and pressing Up) is the Guts Pose, which at this point seems to serve no purpose other than being a cool little thing you can do for fun and to communicate with other players when playing together. You can assign other actions to the other D-pad directions by pressing X, going to ???? (lower-right option in the menu), the going to ???????? (3rd one down, means "Set Gestures").

*EDIT 3*
Talking to the Elder Omui
He basically introduces himself as the Elder and congratulates you on a job well done as Iyazaaru's protege.

Then he asks you if you feel up to the task of protecting the village on your own from this point on, at which you're presented with the choice to answer YES or NO.

I chose NO, and he said "Well, everyone feels that way their first time. But I'm sure you'll be able to do it. I have faith in you."

Then he says "...now. Kazuya, I shall assign you to your next task. You received a Star Aura from the villager, right? Take it to the top of the Angel World and bring it to the base of the World Tree.

Exit and climb the stairs until you find an angel blocking one flight of stairs. He won't let you pass until after you talk to the Elder.

Climb to the top and walk up to the tree. You'll be asked if you want to offer the Star Aura to the tree.

Iyazaaru: So, what do you think? Isn't the World Tree beautiful? Collecting Star Auras from humans and presenting them to the World Tree...this is our duty. Guardian Angel _________, I have great expectations of you.

At this point go back and talk to Elder Omui.

*EDIT 4*
Elder Omui asks you how the tree is doing, and remarks on how much it sparkles. He explains (again) that their job as angels is to protect people, collect their thanks (in the form of crystallized Star Auras), feed it to the tree to nourish it, all for the purpose of letting it bear Goddess Fruit. He tells you to return to the human world by way of the star-shaped hole in the bottom room, but also says to speak to the female angel standing at the star-shaped hole of light before you leave. He says a blessing for you and then you're free to go on your way.

*EDIT 5*
At the village, you'll see 2 boys talking about the angel statue in the background. The older boy (Niido, the mayor's son) says that the name on the statue used to say Iyazaaru, but for some reason it changed to (whatever name you chose for your hero). The younger boy says that it's always been (your name), but he can't be sure. They get into a little argument about the existence of angels, and the older boy says that they don't exist and that only "that bonehead" Rikka (from the beginning of the story) believes in them. He walks off, and the younger boy talks to himself, saying "he acts all important just because he's the mayor's son". Then he says a little prayer to the new guardian angel saying to teach Niido a lesson to make him believe (but to not be too harsh about it).

In case you haven't already figured it out, no one can see you. When you "speak" to people, you're just hearing them speak to themselves, or they'll say things along the lines of "Eh? I could've sworn someone walked in just now!"

It seems that only the dog can see you. Speak to it and it will lead you to a Keepsake Ring. Pick it up, and go to the church. Talk to the woman praying there. She's praying to you that she'll find her heirloom ring. You'll be asked if you want to secretly slip it into her pocket. She'll notice her jacket "get a little heavier" and find the ring, thanking you for her "luck," at which point you'll get a Star Aura.

Head to the southwest corner of the village and enter the stable. The sleeping man talks in his sleep, saying that he needs to finish cleaning the stable. Pick up all of the sparkling horseshit and he'll wake up to find the chore all finished. He's shocked at how it could've happened, then he says a prayer of thanks and you get another Star Aura.

At this point it becomes night.

Ok, I'm off to play some more. I'm loving this game so far

Do you mind if I put this in a spoiler tag in the first post, Densetsu?

I'm applying the translations to the rom.
NVM, It's easy to figure out.
I'll apply the translations to the rom after all

You really are?
That's awesome!

Thanks for the help, I had to guess my way through most of the menu's.

I'm trying to memorize the characters.

are any of you playing this on an emulator? and if you are can you please explain how you are doing it? ive tried for a few hours to get it to work with zoomer and no$gba 2.6a.

ive tried both patches and neither of them work, they both crash every single time the bald guy starts talking in the beginning.

I'm still pretty curious about what this guy was saying. What patch did you apply? Or are you just joking..

I figured it out! He was applying fixes, not patches. That would explain the patch thing. Dude, there's already a pre-fixed version.

Here, I have translated some menus so far.
How to patch:
Download the patcher program only once, everytime I announce that a new patch is out just run the program and it will download the latest patch availiable by the internet.

Q: I don't have internet
A: You're a cheapass

Here is the almighty patcher

Also, If it's not working on your flashcart, I don't care because SCDS1 released a fix, go whine to your flashcart maker.

The patcher doesn´t work here i can select everything but there is no new file created, i´ve put everything in a dir in C:/ (from desktop i got an error i guess because of a directory issue).

PS: Please see this only as a little bug report no complaining

おつけをきく - Listen to God's Message

It should be like that because I trimmed the rom to save some space, it is possible that applying the fix might give you a white screen though. And, did you use the patching program or the patch I just posted?

the patch u just made lol and applying the fix gave me the white screen. So no fix i suppose?

ugggh no joy for me. Lemme outline what I kinda did. Lemme know if i did something wrong.

1.Downloaded ROM, xDELTAui, and DQ9 translation patch.
2. Ran XdeltaUI, input patch, clean rom, then clean rom again but under different file name.
3. Says file patched successfully with an output of ~229MB.
4.Ran game on acekard 2i, with a red loading word (wtf)
5. game runs normally at first, nothing seen that is translated yet, and then at the point where the monk guy senses danger the screen goes white and freezes.

I did the exact same procedure with the fixed rom too. I really dunno what I did wrong. Probably some really dumb mistake.

I think you should aply the fix first. Then, aply the translation patch over the "fixed" rom.

Maybe that should work. I can´t try it by now.

Edit: Just tried. It doesn't work for me either. The patch obviously has to be applied to a clean rom. But we can't do that because we need that rom fix or the game wont work.
Maybe Noitora has to patch the rom with the fix and then, create a translation patch with the previously "fixed" rom.
I write this, cause last night I was messing with the files looking for the menu text to change it to my language. I did, repacked the rom, tried to patch with the fix and it didn't work.

So I "fixed" the rom first and then changed the text. After that I was able to play the game with no problems. (BTW the text I changed is nowhere to be found, it was supposed to be the button X menu text, but still japanese
wacko.gif
)
Hope you understand what I wrote, I don't think my english is too good.

BTW @Noitora: Thanks for the patch. It's good to have you here.

Good job so far TC. For someone who just started Japanese, you seem to know an awful lot >.<

I didn't get the patcher to work though. When I try to save the file under a different name, it doesn't create a new file at all. I figure, maybe I just need to overwrite the original file. But I tried, then loaded the game up, and it didn't work either.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention that the file size didn't change at all. And it does give the me message that it's patched succesfully.

EDIT2: I extracted another clean file and put it in a different folder. Then tried again and it suddenly worked using this method:

Crap :/
If you can't make it work, download the patch from here:
http://stashbox.org/565751/dq9_patch1.patch.xdelta

and use this to apply it:
