AstroCore brings Super Mario Galaxy to PC via full decompilation

The 2007 Nintendo Wii classic Super Mario Galaxy has reportedly been 100% decompiled by the SMGCommunity under the project codename Petari, and now a standalone PC port titled Astrocore, has been announced by the Luma's Workshop community.

Like other decompilation efforts, this project will allow for enhanced performance and graphics rendering and more by bypassing traditional emulation and using native code execution instead.

The upcoming PC port titled AstroCore is supposedly 100% human coded and is showcased in the above video. The project will reportedly release soon through the project's Discord channel.

This just in, we have officially reached 100% decompiled for Super Mario Galaxy 1!

The Luma's Workshop decompilation team will be moving to Super Mario Galaxy 2 after some cleanup work, so wish them the best of luck in the replies! We ask for your utmost patience, as we are putting a lot of care into this project to make sure it's done right.Stay tuned to this channel and the Luma's Workshop discord for more information and updates!

The project will of course require users to supply their own legally dumped ISO to extract the necessary assets which are not included.

This probably sounds redundant but I wonder how far it could go as a WiiU port in terms of resolution, controller support and Gamepad support. As a kid I dreamt of Galaxy 3 using the touchscreen for pointwr controls and perhaps Y for spinning. This could be the best version in terms of controller options just like Pikmin 3, if it came out like that

Now do a video of it with DLSS enabled
AAA Mario

Touchscreen pointer controls and Y for spinning? Are you sure you aren't talking about SMG 3D All-Stars for Switch?

A low percentage doesn't necessarily mean that it's years away anymore.
1) While people love to think that AI is solely responsible for the rapid increase in speed of development nowadays one of the biggest factors is that the compiler used for these games has been decompiled so now we have a much better understanding how the assembly is generated.
2) SMG2 shares a LOT of code with SMG1, but the focus has mainly been on the first game. I'm assuming this will start shifting soon, and some code will translate 1:1.
3) More people are interested in working on decomps than ever, contributions are at an all time high.

Don't let this discourage you. Chances are the progress will skyrocket over the next months.
