Just curious, although I've already softmodded my console. If you updated to the 9/7 update and your Wii is still virgin, is it possible to softmod it? Still trying to figure out the exact purpose of the update, other than installing the Korean IOS's, therefore making us unable to TBR 41.

Also, if I used the official update to update my Wii (already on 4.3) to the 9/7 release, would all my homebrew be gone and unable to be softmodded again?

Thanks!

You should be able to install the homebrew channel with smash stack or indiana jones pwns and use the new HW_AHBPROT feature to install ios236. With IOS236 you can softmod your wii, but I'm not sure if the ios236 installer works with the new 9/7 IOSes.

I haven't tested it out personally yet, but I can't see why IOS236 Installer would stop working because of this update. I'm pretty sure it just officially killed Trucha Bug Restorer, i imagine that the IOS236 installer and all other ahbprot apps should still work fine

If you have HBC 1.08 installed before you update then IOS236 installer, hermes v4 and CIOSX r20 install without a hitch.
I'd imagine that installing HBC using indiana pwnz/smash stack works too, but I haven't tried that.

@SylverReZ, I dislike the kind of drm where you have to play single player games online all the time bc of some verification bs

@Xdqwerty, Don't use games that have Easy Anti-Cheat as its been exploited many times.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

Either that or their old games were unfinished aswell but we can't notice it

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So that version is semi rare

@Psionic Roshambo, I have a rom of the ds version of impossible mission
