Bethesda's upcoming game schedule leaked, includes Fallout 3 and Oblivion remasters

The Microsoft and FTC legal battle saw classified documents leaked earlier today, when what was supposed to be redacted information was instead directly uploaded to the US government court record. Following the hardware documents, software documents have also been leaked, revealing what Bethesda has in store for the next few years. The presentation is from 2020, and from a pre-Microsoft Bethesda, forecasting game releases up to Fiscal Year 2024.

A lot could have changed since Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda, particularly certain mobile and free-to-play titles that ZeniMax had listed. What was initially planned to release in Fiscal Year 2022 (October 2022-September 2023) included an Oblivion remaster, the Indiana Jones game which was delayed, and DLC for Starfield, which by 2020 was going to have already been out in 2022, but ended up being delayed to 2023.

Additionally, a game called DOOM Year Zero was in the works, and had an initial release frame of Fiscal Year 2023 (October 1, 2023-September 30, 2024). Following that would be a Project Kestrel and Project Platinum. The next year would see a lot of game releases, ranging from The Elder Scrolls VI, an expansion DLC for Project Kestrel, a "licensed IP game", a remaster of 2008's Fallout 3, a sequel to Ghostwire: Tokyo, Dishonored 3, and DLC for DOOM Year Zero.

Whether or not these projects are still in the works three years after this document was made is questionable, though it's clear that Bethesda was affected by delays across nearly all their development since then.

They actually planned to release Starfield in 2021 at one point?

Imagine how much of a mess that would've been lmao. I guess no wonder they delayed it so much.

DOOM Year Zero also sounds interesting... taking a guess that might've been a prequel to the first DOOM or something, given the name.

Doom year zero... come on! Please keep any kind of storytelling away from my Doom!!! Doom is the opposite of storytelling and the last two iterations did not understood that. It's not a PlayStation game for fuck sake.

Remember the guy who named his newborn son "Dovahkin", with the promise of receiving every new title that Bethesda would ever release, for life?

Looks like he's been waiting a long time to collect on his bounty.

Still. That's a pretty cool name for a kid. Better than all the little girls who were named "Khaleesi" before Season 8 of Game of Thrones, at least.

Yepp! Microsoft actually forced Bethesda to delay it a year to polish it.
Oh, yeah, they did do that.

Doom year zero... come on! Please keep any kind of storytelling away from my Doom!!! Doom is the opposite of storytelling and the last two iterations did not understood that. It's not a PlayStation game for fuck sake.
"Doom is the opposite of storytelling"

...didn't they literally have story intermissions in the first game?

You know, these:

It's not much but I would consider it to be storytelling.

Pretty damn excited to see what this « Doom Year Zero » is

Considering the end of Eternal, I don't think they would go with the Doom Slayer again and « Year Zero » screams prequel, which makes sense. Would be nice to have some Argent thing, maybe some tie-in with Quake 1, idk people have been asking for that ...

Whatever, more Doom is always good

I do hope one of those unamed Project is actually a Quake reboot or sequel, don't care if they come again with the Strogg thing. Hell even Quake Wars I'm all for it.

It's not like the storytelling in Doom2016/Eternal is THAT bad. The story is actually damn good and it's not like the game forces you to read codex entries or shit like that

Yes but it's really just a pretext. There wasn't really a great incentive to have some world building or something.
Well, Romero was into that stuff actually, but not Carmack (and the biggest example is seen between Quake 1 and 2)

Now there's more in that regard, but as somebody who played Doom 2016 and Eternal without giving a damn at first and went into the story after that, I feel like it managed to catter to both those who don't care about the context of it all, and those who want to know why they're doing all that stuff and know about the enemies they're constantly killing. It's much more fleshed out and I think they did great work.

Oblivion remaster would probably end my life. I love that game to shreds.

Ahhhh... To be a bosmer, thief and wrecking havok with the Grey Cowl of Nocturnal...

And using Wabbajack in the middle of a town.

Loosing the horse somewhere to never see it again...

Ahhh... The life...

Also, uh.. TES VI IS FINALLY COMING EARLY 2024 OMG ROFL!!

Oblivion Remaster with overhauled Skyrim Graphics would be fine.
It doesn't "need" it per se (though i'm not against it if they do), imo just re-releasing the game (specially on non-Xbox consoles) is fine by me.

this is definition of disaster sony
"Disaster for Sony"?

It is storytelling, but that's was more a sales pitch than a storytelling. On that era, there were free shareware versions of doom featuring the first out three episodes. That message appeared after beating episode one, so the message here is: "hey, buy the paid version, it's good yo".

There is a famous quote from that era on that subject:

"Story in a game is like story in a porn movie. It's expected to be there, but its not that important" - John Carmack
