+1 Pokemon

I believe that everyone loves Chrono Trigger because it was one of the few JRPG for the SNES that got localized. Sadly, games like Seiken Densetsu 3, Star Ocean and the epic Tales Of Phantasia never got a official localization for the SNES... so only a few gammers remember those SNES games.
Anyway... if I have to choose betwen them: ToP>SD3>SO>CT

Isn't Fire emblem only a Tactical RPG ?
I never played one yet, so I don't know. I'm just curious about it.
it seems to be a renowned series, I should test it one day.
Oops, I believe so

Either way, it's an amazing game, I highly recommend it if you want to try it.
Fire Emblem is soooooo gooood
another great series that never made it out of Japan (in the NES/SNES era)

It's a tough one...FF has some awesome stuff...but Chrono Trigger's better overall I suppose...
+1 CT

This is a really hard decision. I loved almost every JRPG series that I have played. Damn...I liked FF because of the two Crystal Chronicles games and I liked DQIX because of its story. I don't really know what to pick. And I obviously like Pokemon, but I've played it so much that I'm starting to get tired of it now.

I guess DQIX wins this one.

I've played a crapload of JRPGs ranging from the popular ones to relatively obscure game adaptations of manga/anime like Sailor Moon: Another Story (that was pretty good). My favourites in order would probably be Chrono Trigger, Seiken Densetsu 3 and the FF series, with my favourite from there probably being FFX (I seriously spent 200+ hours on that game). But most of the ones I've played were fun in their own way.

Persona. Between P3 and P4 on the PS2, I've spent over 200 hours in gameplay time. I honestly can't say that for any other RPG.

Final Fantasy by far. I've beaten every main Final Fantasy entry in the series so far (I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XII, XIII), and some spin-offs (VII Crisis Core, X-2, XII: Revenant Wings, Dissidia, 4 Heroes of Light, and some more I can't think of right now). Just about all of my childhood memories are of Final Fantasy (even though I'm only 16). I spent at least 60 hours on FF 1-6, 80 on VII-X, and 120+ on XII and XIII. I don't even remember how many hours it took me to beat the spin-offs. I've never been disappointed by any story in any of the games I've beaten (I hate most Crystal Chronicles spin-offs, which is why I don't finish them) and all of this was time well-spent. So, yeah, I think I've spent more time playing FF in my life then I have sleeping (almost definitely not, but it could be close lol).

Never Played fire emblem, what's so good about it?

Fire emblem is a strategy RPG. You can recruit other characters, which usually makes the game a bit more longer because you can't choose when you can recruit that character and sometimes you have to have the right person in your party to recruit them. The last Fire Emblem I played I was able to create stronger weapons and change the characters' classes. The stories are usually pretty amazing, I'm sure you can find a more in-depth summary of the game from someone else though, my apologies.

The Megami Tensei series, hands down. Actually intresting plot points, characters, themes and being difficult? Hell yeah.

Nocturne, DDS and Persona 3/4 are the best JRPGs I've played. Devil Survivor and Strange Journey were pretty damn good too.

Final Fantasy, although chrono is very good it has only 2 games.

Final Fantasy is always a master piece even more if we think about how the game works around job and battle systems.

Final Fantasy would've won hands down if I'd seen this topic 12 or so years back, but imo every FF game after VII was a disappointment...... (I do like Tactics games though!)

As a series then, +1 for Dragon Quest! All good games, and nearly all worth another play (aside from the level grinding required for most of the earlier games) Wouldn't like to pick a favourite though, all are good! Recently enjoyed VI (+ english patch natch).....
Kudos to Suikoden..... 3 was turd, but the first 2 are classics, and I really enjoyed 4 it must be said

Chrono Trigger was absolutely fantastic, make no mistake..... I didn't rate Cross though.....
Favourite FF game has to be VI - best storyline imo, best music by a mile, and best bad guy ever - Kefka was a right git!
