According to the changelog, AK2i users should be safe to update, right?
Hypothetically, yes, but should anything happen to your bootloader make sure you have the proper tools (a spare flashcard and a DSL/DSi) to fix it.

3 minutes on google and the link to download just pop up like charm i was expecting briked my cards but works well so far

Applied 1.8.2 to my AK2.1 from pre-Dec '09 with beads of sweat running down my head. Ran GS:DD and softreseted; white screen on top and striped lines on bottom. Me: SHIT. Power off and power on. Bootloader intact.

Globalsettings.ini reset though but tried the same thing again and GS:DD softreseted just fine. *Phew*

Why would you even think about updating? It was removed for a reason.

I'm very confused about that as well. But maybe these are people with slow mSD cards that can't buy new ones and really need to play 999 & Golden Sun...

i know but u can still run the
ak2ifw_update_141_DSL.nds
update and that fixes it
the bootstrap
ak2ifw_update_141_DSL.nds
can be used to fixed the 2.1
If you run the DSi update on an AK2.1 you will, for sure, brick you're card. YOU CANNOT UPDATE THE AK2.1 BOOTLOADER WITH A 1.4.1 UPDATE FOR THE AK2i. *rant over*
You CAN use an AK2.1 to update an AK2i, but if you are presented with banner brick for the AK2.1, there is no way to fix it with current tools.

Read the file name does it say ak2ifw_update_141_DSL.nds or ak2.1fw_update_141_DSL.nds? It says AK2i. So that means its for the AK2i ONLY. You can use the 2.1 to update an 2i but the update can never be applied to a 2.1.

ok im missing something here
i guess ur right
i remember reading somewhere that you can use it to fix a brick on the ak2.1
ill try to find it

I guess most Akaio fans would like to have the 1.8.2 skin, so I made a download for it:

I really don't want to give the entire files to anybody. Except Another World, Smiths & Normmatt. But I guess they already have them.

you dont really have to keep repeating the last sentence over and over again
people can easily find the update on google

This is really mean and primitive, you know that?

Nobody wants to establish a stalinist empire around Akaio.

It's under research now. A new version that won't do any harm will be available "soon".

How many people have had bricks out of this? I have been using the earlier posted 1.8.2 since lunch on mine and my boys AK2i and it seems fine. One is a DSL and one is a DSiXL. The DSL loads ROMs from DScovered and the XL from Moonshell, so far everthing is fine not even a glitch.

One. It affects older AK2.1 only so far. Hypothetically, AK2i wouldn't be affected but you never know.

Intersteing! 1.8.2 benches slightly slower for me than 1.8.1 by about 2%.

Edit: Just a thought but, this could be because the AP is always on, I would not have had it on previously for CF_DS.

I'm not quite sure if you read what he said right or not, but I'll assume you're just trying to pick yet another argument with another user.
Get over it and stop trolling the thread.

I downloaded 1.8.2 when the link was first posted, but I didn't put it on my Acekard yet. Good thing, I get pretty paranoid with bricks.
Even though I have an Acekard 2i, I don't want to take the risk until the re-release.

First thing, I don't get why some people here are doing annoying with not giving links. I mean, its their own cart, if they want to brick it or believe it won't brick, do it. But NO ONE (except yourself) is taking responsibility for the brick.

Anyway. Just chill down guys and wait for a new release.

Bacause we have 12 year old kids here. Kids are greedy and can't take responsibility for their own actions. That's why they are kids.

I don't think that this is very difficult to understand.

I updated on two 2 DS Lites yesterday - and so far no problems with either of them. Both of the Acekards in them are less than a year old (one was bought for a Christmas present last year and the other February '10) and have never had anything other than Akaio firmware on them.

Yes,Akaio is really great I have downloadet akaio 1.8.2 yesterday and it works!
For sure i have delete it now!

Now let them brick their carts if they want.
Not completely true, Normmatt brought up that it really only effects older Acekard 2s. So AK2i should be just fine to use this firmware on.
Not that I am recommending it, I am just pointing that out.

On AK2i, your globalsettings.ini might get reset (or deleted, don't know) after changing a skin or choosing "Back to firmware" on Moonshell 2.10 Child Zwai.

Sometimes it just freezes, sometimes your globalsettings.ini are reset, sometimes the "Slot 2" button shows up (although using a DSi).

I really won't recommend it now.
