I am running EU emunand. Just to keep my sysnand at 9.2. I just came to think, maybe I also have to install fieldrunners to my sysnand?
I want to use my EU emunand to do a downgrade on a friends N3DS.

I don't think that's possible. I think dsi ware games also need to be installed to sysnand, just like gba games ect.

Could someone link me to the NTR CFW topic?
Since you are clearly too lazy or retarded to google it yourself, but seeing as this is a noob paradise thread, I'll spoonfeed you a reddit link on how to get NTR CFW: here
The old topic was discontinued here

Thanks, I think I will format it first to be safe. I have a purchased eshop game on it, but no NNID. A format won't cause me to permanently lose this game will it?
No, you can download it from the eShop after.

Thanks for the help, all went well with the arm9loader install, but I'm not sure what to do here
If you started Part 1 with a NAND between 4.0.0 and 4.5.0, make sure you have copied the following firmware.bin file to /luma/
just skip these steps, since you started at "9.2", not "4.x".

The same way you update normally: You boot your 3DS, you go to System Settings and then use System Update to update to the latest version, which is 11.0 at the moment. Before you ask: This is absolutely completely safe.

Also, please don't double (or triple) post. If you have an addition, there is an EDIT button on your post!

Erm -- so... the 3DS bricked. Blue screen on boot up. I saved my NAND though... Any option to restore this?

Care to explain how you bricked it? o.0

With the NAND backup there's always the possibility of a hardmod so you can flash your NAND back, but what you need kinda depends on what you did..

From Plailect's guide:
This guide will assume the CFW 3DS is running arm9loaderhax and was setup with this guide, but will work (with slight modifications such as doing all SysNAND steps on RedNAND) on systems running an EmuNAND or RedNAND

It should be doable. Maybe I'm not supposed to actually open the game in my emuNAND, and just inject the save. All tho I thought one had to "initialize save" by opening games once. Also, how would I go about downloading Fieldrunners on my 9.2 sysnand (if required)?

One other thing. Plailect's guide does not tell me which version of firmware I should be on for the Fieldrunners downgrade. Should I load a older (10.4 or less) dump before proceeding?

New 3ds XL was 9.8.0

Followed Plailect guide

When i start my 3ds normaly i boot into "sys 9.2.0-20e"
am i in Luma now?

i have working FBI and can launch HBL tru icon.

Tried installing a 3ds game via CIA, it installs fine, but "bootloops" at "Nintendo 3ds" screen with the red stuff behind.

How do i know luma works? should it say "emu 9.2.0..." ?

No, it should say sys. To test, press select on boot. If you are on Luma configuration menu when you press select on boot, then you have a9lh. Then, try updating via system settings, then it will say sys 11.0.0-33e, then it should stop the bootloop.

Both consoles must be on 11.0 for the following reasons:
  • Source needs to be on 11.0 to use the eShop and buy the game (not counting ctr httpwn)
  • Source & target need to be on 11.0 to do a system transfer
  • Target needs to be on 11.0 otherwise you would not be doing this, you'd just downgrade normally

I have O3DS (Non-XL) with OFW 2.1E, i would like to install yet again the infamous A9LH but not sure where to start, the new updated guide seems tricky and with my other systems i always used the other guide..

Thanks~
