How was it homebrewed (with what method) ?

Also the fact that the Wii U menu was in english bothers me. AFAIK this isn't an easy thing to do and you would have to correctly revert it before formatting. Others know more about this through.

Anyway, prepare to use the recovery menu (do you have a RPI Pico, RPI Zero or an unpatched Nintendo Switch?)

CC @GaryOderNichts

//EDIT: After looking the Video you'll need to reinstall at least the Wii U Menu with the help of the recovery menu. At least cause a lot of other apps had been patched, too.

//EDIT²: Maybe before that you could try to apply the ENG to JAP patchset with the help of WUPServer (part of the recovcery menu). Gary will know more I hope.

Ah heh, that's the person from my discord. You didn't mention that video over there though :P
Let me know once that pico arrived and I'll take a look at the logs.
It seems to be stuck in the formatting process though? Not the Wii U menu?

So, I have this exact same problem (down to the T), I followed the linked video and the language editing went fine, I Just wanted to factory reset the system so I could follow the setup in a language I understand, but the system was all funcional as far as I could tell.

To be more specific, the facts went like that:

I went to the restore option in the settings and everything went fine;

After the reboot I got prompted in japanese to pair the gamepad, it paired;

Then there was a little "Wii U" loading screen and I was stuck in this same white screen for some time;

Seeing that It wouldn't go anywhere, I rebooted the system holding "+" and managed to remove the Wii U Menu autoboot;

From there, I could boot into the vWii screen, to the Homebrew Launcher and even to the Mii Maker after pressing home on the HL (I can access the menu by pressing Home, going into the Homescreen gives the same white screen tho);

Question is, with that functionality what can I do?

I'm not experienced in Wii U modding, but to me It seems that this is Just a "Wii U Menu not running the first launch wizard" problem. I have a NAND backup without the MLC and I'll have a Raspberry Pico arriving tomorrow so I can boot into the recovery_menu. I can access the FTPii in the HbwL but the console isn't on the internet. I suspect that reverting the language change would make It normal again, but I don't know how to do It without the Wii U Menu to connect it to the internet.

Edit: Before the language change I Just followed the Wii U Hacks Guide, unlocked It with Tiramisu, did the backup and removed the update folder (which is restored at the moment).

Edit 2: I managed to get It working. Just for the record, I repaired It by reinstalling the Japanese Menu via the "Install WUD" option on the recovery_menu. I got the menu via the JNUSTool btw.

I just cannot believe it, I did exactly the same thing as you bro! Then I searched and arrived at this post, and just at the moment I am struggling at the "recovery menu" things, I managed by purely chance and solve this problem! NO recovery menu, no pi pico NEEDED!!!

To anyone also arrived by searching in the future:

Here is the solution if you: brought a JAP Wii U, modded it with tiramisu, changed the language to ENG (or anything other than Japanese) and made a factory reset, and find yourself stuck at the booting, without see the Wii menu after an hour's waiting....again, man what have we done to deserve this ?!

Note: Not sure if step 2-3 is required, maybe you just need step 4, as I have recovered from this issue I cannot test it again, just try it out.

1.Force power the console down by holding the power button on the console for 4 sec
2.Hold X while boot the power button on the pad to enter the bootloader menu
3.Choose installer--Check--boot option--Wii U menu
4. After another reboot, you will find your self still stuck in the "bubble" screen without Wii U menu, but here comes the magic:
TOUCH the lower right part of the pad screen, yes it shows nothing but just TOUCH it, you will hear a sound and VOLA!! The time/date setting screen will show up!! I cannot recall the exact screen location, just try blind touching several times!

My guessing is the " launch wizard" actually is on the screen it's just not being displayed due to the language change, but you can still interact with it!

And the rest steps are all good, minus some Japanese mixed but you can bear with it I am sure :)

And finally we are back to the menu, AGAIN!! Let's celebrate for no need of pi pico (I actually owned two zero Ws and one Pi3B+, but have 0% intention of digging into the recovery menu thing, no, never)~~~

And just discovered one perk of factory reset: All garbage official channels were gone! We have... maybe some extra MBs at our disposal on the NAND :)

    @SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.
