Nintendo claims that it has "nothing new to announce" in regards to first-party 3DS games

browser-overlay.png

The end might just be nigh for the little handheld. Around this time last year, Nintendo promised investors that they would continue to support the Nintendo 3DS, with ports such as Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn, Mario & Luig: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser JR's Journey, and Luigi's Mansion, alongside a new game in the form of WarioWare Gold. Now that fiscal year 2018 has come and gone, it's time to look towards the future; one that doesn't seem to focus the the small system. In the latest investor briefing, the only mention of the 3DS was comparing the Nintendo Switch to its sales numbers.

Company analysts forecast that around 1 million systems will still be shifted throughout 2019, though there is no word on any further first party releases. If you still haven't upgraded to the Nintendo Switch, you'll still have an upcoming title at least, in the form of Atlus' Persona Q2. Currently, over 75 million 3DS systems have been sold, with 378 million games for it, in the eight years that it's been on the market.

That's sad news. I own 1 Nintendo DS, 2 Nintendo DS Lite, 2 Nintendo 3DS XL and 2 New Nintendo 3DS XL systems. I have few DS games and 3DS games for my Nintendo DS/Lite and Nintendo 3DS XL/New 3DS XL. I glad to have 2x Acekard 2i, 3x Supercard Two, Gateway 3DS and Sky3DS+ flashcarts for my system to play them. If I buy many DS and 3DS games for my system and cause me to upset easy for waste my money on expensive games. If people have many 3DS games and maybe have very hard time to sell physical games.

I heard GameStop stores are not doing any good. But maybe in few years then GameStop will go out of business cause hurt sales on all games. That's sad news.

When Nintendo no longer make Nintendo 3DS XL, New Nintendo 3DS XL, and New Nintendo 2DS XL. Price will rocket up after that. Remember Vita had stop support before and cause price go up higher.

I keep my all systems with few games for myself. I don't play often, I play rarely.

That is why I need to save my money for toward PlayStation 5 and maybe Nintendo Switch Pro or Switch 2 (I still on hold for powerful hardware). I not interest in regular Nintendo Switch because hardware is still weak not powerful enough like PS4/PS4 Pro.

Is it surprising really?

Nintendo has always done this, a new console / handheld came out and the previous thing is dead.
This is not sony that actually keeps their word when they say they support a platform after a new release.
PS3 still getting games, and PS Plus JUST got cut off. 360 still has support. Xbox and Sony aren't like Nintendo.

So... after way too many Kirby games, Mario and Luigi unnecessary remakes, huge Fire Emblem games there is NO time for a freaking Advance Wars game?

This was an 8-year period for the system -- plenty of time. I'd just say that we don't really need another Advance Wars game. :)

You can still buy PSP digital games, you just have to buy them not using the PSP and then you can just connect your PSP and download the games.

Exactly. Sony supports things WAY longer than any dev.

Correction nintendo have had nothing new for many years.

Recycle the same titles, gameplay, story.

Before the nintendo fanboys jump to defend.

Find me one nintendo title that cant be found on a nintendo system before that doesnt share the same core gameplay and story

Dillon's Rolling Western / The Last Ranger / Dead-Heat Breakers
Steel Diver / Steel Diver: Submarine Wars
Rusty's Real Deal Baseball
And let's throw in Wii Music for good measure

Turns out people are more interested in buying the same old thing rather than something that features new gameplay and story.

Not always. Otherwise no real new games would be ever be made.

"The 3DS didn't just die, it was MURDERED!"

Let's see.

First there was the Gameboy.

Then there was the Super Gameboy but most people didn't knew what the heck that was.

Then there was the Gameboy Color, that could play Gameboy games and Super Gameboy games.

Then there was the Gameboy Advance and it could play previous Gameboy, Super Gameboy and Gameboy Color Games.

Then came the DS, it could play Gameboy Advance games.

Then game the 3DS and it could play DS games.

Is the end of a era since tne Switch can't play 3DS games.

Don't forget the best one, the Gameboy Player. It can play every Gameboy game from the og to Advance. I own one, and it's amazing. Super rare though.

There was the DSi somewhere in there. Not to mention the gameboy micro that could not play the GB/GBC titles.

Similarly be careful with the Super Gameboy stuff.

It had extra features not replicated on later systems (colours, backgrounds and such, as well as features https://loveconquersallgam.es/post/2350461718/fuck-the-super-game-boy-introduction ).

The Gameboy SP or a regular Advance with the light fixed is okay, add a Gameboy Pocket to that and you can play like 98% of the games.

So 3ds officially has no games.

Those funtions were kinda replicated on the Game boy Color games that also worked on the regular Gameboy.

Still I am quite sure the Gameboy Color could play Super Gameboy games, but maybe I am wrong.
