Here's the issue with the notion of "interpretation" and that is the fact that they even left it up for interpretation to begin with. Although technically they are correct that this is indeed a DS/DSi cart flashed with NTRBoot, they at no point made it clear that it can't play DS games. They even have "FAQ" section (a stolen one) and it doesn't include this information. This means it's either up to the user to find out this information on their own or ask them directly for this answer.
This is only made worse when you consider the cost of the cart. It cost more than the their other cart, which to an enduser makes it appear as though it has to do more that just install NTRBoot. They are basically banking on vaguely worded statements and lack of information in order to sell this cart. If they actually flat said in the FAQ, "It doesn't play DS games," then no one would buy it nor would we have seen the spam created because of them. Why? Because no one wants a uni-tasking cart when the R4i Gold only costs like 1$ more and plays DS games.
I would also like to make this clear that I wasn't the only person who thought it played DS games. In fact a lot of the spam we got included playing DS games, which means their vaguely worded sentence worked. I just happen to be the second person pushing this fact because I think it's wrong to mislead the community like this. They are charging more for a single task cart, while giving the illusion that it's something more. If the cart was like 10$ (max) and was upfront in the FAQ, it wouldn't be so horrible, but instead it cost more only to do less.
Eh. I didn't get the idea that it'd have the functionality of the other flashcart, and their site was never good about not being ambiguous.

Now that it's been cleared up to me, I can see that it wasn't intended to play DS games. But to the untrained eye, do you think the enduser will see the difference? If it doesn't flat say, "It can't play DS games," and you see that it cost a dollar more and still has a microSD slot, wouldn't you think it's the same cart plus NTRBoot? Think about the average customer when you consider a product like this. Poorly worded English and lack of clarification is what pushed people to want this cart more than anything else. People want a cart that both plays DS games and can install NTRBoot, which is what this cart appeared to do if you weren't paying close enough attention.

@Lilith Valentine I'm not sure it really helps to just say the same things over and over (as true as they are).
I know it doesn’t completely help, but at the same time I want users to be informed. Deep down I am just hoping my posts come up when people google this cart and they don’t buy it when they realize they can get something better

The cart most likely has a microSD just because it is most certainly just an R4i-SDHC 3DS RTS (reflashed). The pricing is bullshit. That's my only real complaint

My complaint is that the price makes it look like it has to offer more to justify it. Which is why I am so aggressively trying to push the doesn’t play DS games issue. I want that to be upfront so people don’t waste their money. I am not doing this for regulars, I am trying to do this for the mislead

Tho it's understandable. They probably calculated the price for the cards at one point and they can't sell the exact same cards for half the money. You even get a complete flashcard for DS ROMs - just with another flash image.
It would be great if we would see some kind of community productions like in the passme days.

It’s pretty obvious that they simply reflashed the R4i-SDHC to make a quick buck. Which was honestly a stupid way to go about it. They should have just released their own flasher and left it at that. People would obviously go for the cheaper cart if it did everything the R4i-Gold does and a lot cheaper.
They ruined an actual marketing opportunity by going with route instead.
Sorry if I am getting so bent out of shape over this. I hate seeing anyone mislead a community that I love.

I can not understand who would pay for this card, which can not be flashable.
Firstly, it can not be reflashed to support ds games.
Besides, if a new version of NTRboot is released , it can not be reflashed to support it either.
Are you still willing to pay for it?

Yes, the price is nonsense. I thought it'd be significantly cheaper.

OMG, this card is real bullshit, what the fuck really. If you want to install CFW why the fuck don’t buy a R4iGold RTS instead this piece of shit. This people I don’t know from where are they coming. Seems like really hungry that they dont think really what the fuck they are doing. This is so stupid. And you even can’t play any game after using it.

I know maybe some people could use it for a Store to install CFW. But seriously WTF! This is scam in the highest level. This people really don’t deserve trust in anyway.

And they even created a contest to make spam on gbatemp, they are posting even the emails of the people is helping them to sell. What kind of people do this?

they are a really hungry, they use all the forums information to put it on their site. Is so disgusting.

To be honest, R4i-SDHC was always cheap, I mean, all of their carts are literally cheap clones of DSTT, so I cannot expect more from them.

So, to preface, I don't really see it as that great a value and that there are certainly better options. That said, I don't think it's THAT much of a ripoff to warrant this response. If you don't want it, don't pay for it /shrug. Market prices will adjust or a competitor will step up. For many folks new to the scene, it's not that high a barrier to entry for hacking. It is what it is. Now, to address one point, when you've got the level of access being provided by NTRboot, it really doesn't matter if it can't be re-flashed; there's not a lot more left that would warrant an update at stage, at least not a critical one anyway. Your cart will have value for the life of the current, and likely future, crop of 3DS systems. The inability to flash is thus largely irrelevant, aside from being able to play DS games at least.

I GUESS the R4i-SDHC team just intended to make the hacking of 3DS console much easier, and more easily to be understood. If you think you are professional enough, you could feel free to choose other methods to do the hack. But the point is that there are many other users who are newbies at this and totally not knowing how to do it.

Even better, those carts have a time bomb on their kernel, wouldn't be great if this one has one? It might be the reason they left a slot in order to update theirs cards

I can see a R4i SDHC B9S 2018 version being made next year.

First, I am less upset as I was earlier today.
Second, I actually don’t know if this cart will have a time bomb. I say this because I actually bought an early R4-SDHC for reasons. I bring that up because it’s from the same team and thus if it had a time bomb, it’s long overdue to have expired. I could be wrong, this brand is “new” to me.
I don’t think updates are the case though, I think they just left it there because it’s a recycled cart. It looks like they just took a few back stock cart and flashed them with NTRBoot.

Quick update, they did reply to my email requesting the source. I was told that the source is on the engineer’s computer. I requested they forward my email to them and I am still awaiting a reply.

I have a flashcard from that website, they gave me with an outdated version a reseller , so they told me I had to put a date like 2009, I was piss off because some games have problems if you change the date on the 3ds, iirc the rts with Wi-Fi label expires at 2019, with a modded file I could run ysmenu without the time bomb present, I don't trust them at all.

You can set the date of you console to a future date and try it.

Cool, I kept reading like 3 different answers to that I wanted at least one physical test for conformation.

With that said, then the cart is a complete ripoff if you can only use to install B9S. There's no reason to invest in a single function cart unless you are intending to setup shop and flash more systems. Otherwise without any other function for this cart, then there's no reason to keep it.
This card exists for one simple reason: people who do not have access to a cfw 3ds to set up a ntrboot card themselves, or knowing anyone who can. It's just a pre-made ntrboot card, nothing more. I wonder how anyone could not see this right from the beginning
