God I want that SDcard slot so badly, unscrewing the back of my N3DS is unbearable.
Just keep the back cover unscrewed, it doesn't fall off or anything. I've been using it like that forever.

I've tried that before but it makes the back panel feel kinda loose when I'm using it, might give it another go though.Just keep the back cover unscrewed, it doesn't fall off or anything. I've been using it like that forever.
FTP and MicroSD Management are really slow for me, and Freeshop doesn't have certain games.i just quickly FTP
Well, the regular 2DS still shares the same CTR (non-SNAKE) firmware as the 3DS and 3DS LL, so I don't think that's the case.Maybe it has to do with the fact that it's 2D only? With the 3DSes there's a part in the initial setup where you have to turn the 3D slider all the way up otherwise you can't continue, but since the 2DSes are only 2D, they remove that part from the setup, and maybe that not being in the setup affects the version number somehow?
I'm just grasping at straws lol
I had a feeling this would be the case (new2ds specific firmware). There had to be a difference in the firmware to handle the non-3d hardware aspects on new 3ds. Also has to be a config function to check the model and probably other things. No hint at any of these new2ds model specific things in 11.4 at all.
I'm guessing a new update will be out prior to June 15th to "unify" the various models' firmware. Or maybe new2ds will get it's own new branch of firmware versions but I doubt it. The interesting thing is it will likely have firm version > 11.4 but have older titles because of manufacturing lead time. Again, a greater firm version than the new2ds initial firmware will likely be released to merge the 3ds family to one firm version.
My guess is that since a dev unit (and some retail units) are in the wild right now, and given hardware lead time is about 2.5 months, this new2ds only firmware will be based on 11.3 or 11.2 titles. 11.4 is only about a month old and that isn't near long enough for hardware to be made and shipped to end users. That makes sense. 11.4 doesn't (afaik) have any New2DSXL image as shown on your photos when using the config (for example). That's why a new firmware is probably coming. If that's the case, maybe 11.4 exploits aren't fixed on that version. Hmmm... Interesting...
But if that's the case, there's no way to install CFW on it right now because it's based on 11.4 and there's no way to install CFW on 11.4 as of right now. Am I wrong? Or is a dev 2DS/3DS different?
I think not, seeing the userbase here at GBATemp.Title is a bit misleading
I'm very sorry about that, I only saw this post, after re-reading the whole thread again.Does there look to be any way to open the console?,(screws under bumpers/flaps, click tabs?)
Or does it look as if it would be concealed?
Yeah, in the dev portal docs, it mentions the battery is non-user replaceable so no surprise there.I think not, seeing the userbase here at GBATemp.
The title would have been different, if I were to post this on a forum for more 'regular' gamers (although the entire thread would also have been different).

Yes, there are 4 screws, one on each corner.
However, the back cover seems rather interesting, from the way it looks like, taking off the back cover will automatically take off all 4 shoulder buttons, the back cameras, and the cartridge/Micro SD slot cover as well.
I don't do that because I'm scared that if I put too much pressure on the back it will shove the screws in their holes and strip it...I've tried that before but it makes the back panel feel kinda loose when I'm using it, might give it another go though.
Well the "New" systems have their own firm.bins so maybe all this does is allow you to skip the 3d slider.Well, the regular 2DS still shares the same CTR (non-SNAKE) firmware as the 3DS and 3DS LL, so I don't think that's the case.
