Cant be assed to read this whole thread, but I had a horrible thought in the shower this morning. (no jokes, children).

What if nintendo is going the route of some like the Sega CD or Sega 32X? Like Nintendo making something that attaches to the Wiiu and makes it more powerful or something. Again, baseless and speculatory, but scary. I really dont see them going this way, but just something I thought of.
oh god no! but this could be true! :O

the gamecube adapter, the 3ds amiibo adapter,... now what?

...shudder.. that is scary. Nintendo have been making some bad decisions lately, but I don't think they're that stupid. Sega CD and 32X were such horrible flops that I don't think any console maker would ever make that mistake again.

With the news that AMD will be mostly in charge of designing the console, I think that we can breath a little easier

NX will be chaeaper than Wii U because it doesn't have a gamepad but it will still support the gamepad and other wireless controllers on a per game basis and Wii U titles all sold seperately. It's main controller will be an upgraded version of the procontroller.

It will be a third pillar strategy like the DS where it's success will determine how quickly the Wii U is phased out. They can continue making Wii U games since it has an install base and many titles Nintendo publishes will not require the extra horsepower on the NX....these titles will be playable on Wii U or NX. Advanced games that can not run on Wii U will be NX exclusives.

It will be easy to port mulitplatform titles to and have as much power as PS4 and xbone.

It's controller should be an upgraded GameCube Controller lol

The nx will not actually be a traditional system. It will actually be a smart toaster that plays games that accept different inputs based on what kind f bread you put into it.

Edit: whoops thought I was in EOF

Just a guess:
NX will use next-gen cartridges that packs extra hardware (zen and gcn 2.0) with cooling if it is a 3a games. AMD has the perfect tech for that right now. To play 3A games on hard disc, you will need horse power expansion, and to play wii u games you will have to buy powerpc expansion (GCN can run last last gen codes). 3DS games can run natively thanks to the horse power. TO run disc you will need an external burner, mostly for wii u. You can upgrade the connectivity like wigig(7Gb/s, perfect for wireless VR) with other expansions. SSD, even x-point unveiled by intel days ago, might be supported natively.
All older controllers are supported, including the gamepad.
Might have a hologram projector.

Do you guys think the nx console will use a cartage with sip 3-core powerpc/gpu chip Nintendo previously mentioned to play wii/ wii u games?

Oh, thanks for bringing me back to this thread, as there's another new rumor that recently popped up; the NX "portable" is going to be launched in 2016 after E3, but the Wii U will not be replaced until 2017. Until then, there may only be a refresh, if anything, but it will have at least one more major update to make it compatible with the NX OS (not necessarily replace the current OS, though). On top of that, the portable may or may not be backwards compatible with 3DS titles, depending on how drastic of a hardware difference it is (it will likely at least modestly outspec the Vita)

Arm v7 (like vita's quad a9, raspberry pi 2's quad a7)/v8(like apple a9/ tegra x1/ snapdragon 820) cores can execute arm V6 instruction natively like arm11 of 3ds, which make 3ds and ds games easily executed without too much coding. Nintendo really should wait till early 2017 for k12(low max clock which require less money and easier cooling), which out-speed any known arm v8 core by a large margin, and gain the ability to run wii/ wii u graphic code natively. And developing games on different gpu is not that hard considering many modern game design tools can develop across different cpu instructions (arm, x86, now dead powerpc).
And it is easier to hack with more accessible instructions.
