Hello all gbatempers
tongue.gif
Got a question for you.

This is the situation: I transfered all my games over to my NTFS ext.HDD but I cannot delete the games from w/in CFG USB Loader. I know this is a ECHI Module issue or last I read (a while ago). I havent ripped a game using NTFS yet so i'm not sure if that's effected at all.

This is the question: How what do I need to do to give myself the ability to delete these games w/in the USB Loader?

Thanks in advance; I know this is a question asked so many times but just do not have the time atm. So some quick advice or a link to the info I need would be wonderful.

Like brausm08 said, it's the install process that is risky. Now that you have it, you might as well keep it. It is potential brick recovery. I'm not a fan of DarkCorp since it is usually used for piracy, but I recognize it does have it's uses outside of piracy.

I see. Well thanks for clearing that up guys!

Iirc cfg needed a special option to mount ntfs rw instead of ro.
Check if thats still the case and if you set it.

If that doesn't help check for fs corruption.

Do you know what special command I need to input? also I should add it to the config file correct?
Thanks in advance.

On SoftmodGuide there's a info that disc backup loaders play discs at 3x instead of the original 6x. Is there any method allowing the full speed to be used? USB loaders?

Yes, USB. Backup discs suck because they are slow and wear down on your lens, shortening the life of your disc drive. USB is faster than normal disc loading (how much faster depends on the speed of your drive) and you don't have to swap out discs. Another great thing is that you don't hear the constant noise from the disc drive.

OK, thank you! And what about the recommended speed of the drive? I know that the faster the better but I guess there's some limit above which the speed has no significance and doesn't affect the gameplay. Is a pendrive enough? A class 10 SDHC card? Or an external drive with a particular RPM is needed?

This is driving me nuts... I have a Western Digital 1TB external drive with model number WD10000C033-000 formatted as NTFS that has a spindown problem that cannot be solved whatsoever... I use USB config loader AND USB loader gx both with the latest versions of Herme's cIOS 222/223n along with d2x v6 with 249 and 250. I got it to work awhile ago then all of a sudden it's back to this... basically in Brawl the music stops and if you try to load something else it freezes. I have the latest firmware on the external harddrive too.

Is there a solution to this? Thanks... otherwise I'll just have to buy an external hdd that is known to work completely fine. I heard Seagate drives are good; is there a drive guide out there for the Wii so that I know which models work 100% with EVERYTHING so I don't waste my money? Thanks

seagates are good. i was using 2 of them with my ps2. they were 3.5" drives. currently, on my wii, im using a western digital scorpio 160g. its formatted to fat32 and havent had an issue. i did have a problem with getting my drive to be recognized upon coldboot (from power off), but that was because i hadnt loaded cios249 in priiloader. i use the drive for games and movies.

Well you will want to get an external hard drive, or else you will only be able to keep a couple games on your device at once. What RPMs you want the drive to have is your choice, obviously the higher they are, the faster games will load, but you should notice a significant difference from disc loading even with slower drives. Just make sure that the hard drive you get is on the compatibility list on this sites wiki (that is not to say that if you get a drive that is not on the compatibility list, it won't work, but better safe then sorry.)

I'm conscious of the capacity issue of course, I just wanted to know if my pendrive was enough for a moment (before I buy an external drive). Will try later in the day.

Are you using the latest version of the hackmii installer? It's v0.8.

I know this sounds stupid, but does the Wii/DSi Memory SD 2.0GB card still work with hacking, or did Nintendo do something to it? I plan on buying it.

Hypothetical question: If I installed a channel using a wad and later deleted it from my Wii using the system's data management, can I get the channel back by installing the wad again (keep in mind that I didn't delete the ticket)? In other words, would installing a wad whose ticket is already in my Wii cause any problems?
