I'm an independent and found the joke quoted...mildly hilarious. I mean, it's funny, but screw the guy that tricked someone into thinking they were tipped a $100 bill at a place that likely doesn't properly pay its employees if they're receiving tips (a common problem with restaurants and other such businesses).
Or giving fake money to the homeless so when they go to use it, they'd get arrested. (Johnny McEntee)

This is the not the kind of gotcha you think it is, considering Harris was also opting for this. But regardless, tips should not be what makes or breaks a person's livability. It's like the analogy of someone raising $20k to save 200 orphans from being crushed in the orphan-crushing machine, but never asking why an orphan-crushing machine exists in the first place or why there needs to be a payment to prevent it from being used.
So great after having pushed for tariffs, telling people that foreign countries would be paying for it when in fact it is US importers paying the tax, translating to higher costs for US consumers. But hey, no taxes on tips, right?
