Sega is working on fixes for Sonic Origins

Sega has softly announced that it is working on fixes for the buggy Sonic the Hedgehog collection, Sonic Origins. In a Tweet posted yesterday, Sonic's social media manager reassured fans that some fixes would be coming. "The team's been listening and is working on fixing a variety of issues right now," the Tweet reads. As of now, it seems that the fixes may be a ways off, as she also writes "we'll make sure to get some more official messaging out once we have more info for everyone."

This follows comments made by Sonic Origins developer Stealth shortly after the game's release, saying he was "very unhappy" with the release. According to Stealth, he and Headcannon were responsible for some of the bugs in the game, but also insists many were introduced by Sega themselves, saying that Origins is not "what [they] turned in."

These bugs have proven controversial among the Sonic community. As reported by TheGamer, a modder working on a project called BetterOrigins abruptly canceled the project, announcing "After really digging into the files for this game, it's become way clearer that this game is absolute shit." Our own Sonic superfan wrote "there's so much wrong that it makes it incredibly hard to recommend Sonic Origins, while still loving it so much" in the official GBAtemp review.

Im so glad to hear this because Sonic Origins, if fixed, could be my favorite way to play the original trilogy.
Imho this extra polish is all it needs to really shine.

At this point, I already went through the entirety of Story Mode with some mods on, but hopefully console players will have a much worthy experience after the big patch.

Its a joke when they cant even release their old retro titles without bugs, while we have been able to emulate them for free without bugs.

Oh my fucking god...I feel so lucky now. I've bought the Steam version of Sonic CD when it was on sale years ago, not knowing it would receive such a shitty remaster treatment. I swear I'll treasure it as if it were my child lmao

Screw Sega.

Just play the remakes and A.I.R. version instead.

I am thinking about buying Sonic 3D Blast to support Jon Burton as he's been improving it with his Director's Cut.

I didn't grew up playing this, but my God, Green Grove tune sounds so catchy! :)

Saturn music wasn't bad, it was just different.

or play the original ones on emulators, real hardware etc.

i understand the apeal of the origins for people who never got into the games before (or only needs to sit, power on they console of choice, and play without any config etc) but Sega screwed this time, with all the problems. i think even speedrunners will pass this, when all the fuss (aka make money for the "momentum") is gone.

to me, who only play on PC nowadays (include emulators, of course) my grip with this release is only one: DENUVO.
i dont buy anything that have this thing. why punish people who bought their games with virus. besides, anyone that needs so badly to play this half/ass port, and have half brain, can emulate on switch emulators. (the game (on switch) is so light, that even a potato pc can run... XD)

:-/

Playing these games in 4:3 feel very restrictive nowadays unless there's no other option.
I don't particularly feel that way, but I understand that some people are uncomfortable with the 4.3 aspect. i like wide screen too... unless is some stretched sh*t garbage lol. genesis plus gx wide have some games running well with the 16.9 option

Hopefully they're substantial, cuz I'm willing to give them $40 for the collection, hell I'd shell out the extra $5 for the needless extra content. But only if the games as presented were without the many new bugs introduced in the collection (allowing Knuckles to play CD would certainly be nice too). Also, I'm far from the first to say it, but adding Amy as a playable character for the collection would truly have been huge, and genuinely feel like a obvious no-brainer to compliment the addition of Ray and Mighty in Mania.
