Sony has launched a new publishing label for PC ports

Sony is committing to its recent trend of porting certain PlayStation exclusives to the PC platform. In the past, games like Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn were published on Steam through PlayStation Mobile, but now all existing and future releases have been changed to a new label: PlayStation PC. The brand was created back in April, and is likely the result of Sony finding success with PlayStation games on the PC platform. Right now, the company is bringing over God of War and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, with both scheduled to launch sometime in early 2022.

So no more PS exclusives... I still prefer to play my games on my living room with a bigger screen, Yeah I could connect my PC but... just using my PS4 to the big TV instead of moving my PC or building another one is easier,

Everyone would just boot Linux to play the games but continue to use windows the rest of the time

Windows is too dominant for most people to run Linux full time
That would be great though as gaming is a pretty big driver at the moment. Over time, more and more people would start to realise you can stay in Linux to do a lot of the same things. Even a modest shift, coupled with Valve supporting proton development for Steam Deck, would make more publishers take notice instead of just defaulting to Windows. I'm not saying it's likely, just that it would be a very interesting move for Sony.

Oh wow.
Quite a nice move from Sony there, gotta give them credit for that.
They still get money and more people get to experience their 1st party titles.

Now we just wait for the odd one out to join as well :switch:

Well, for those that can't afford the ridiculous prices that one can get a decent gfx card, a console is still a good value.

If you have a powerhouse pc, good for you, my friend. Crazy Chicken Shooter is right there, waiting for you.

PC ports are great news! But I still don't get the decision to port Uncharted 4. Do they expect PC players to just skip the first 3?
For casual players? yes
Since when have those of us in the PC Masterace been casual about anything?

PC as a platform name should be phased out in favour of the OS these days as Linux isn't really that niche anymore.

If you think of the platform as Windows, then it becomes a bit easier to understand why Sony is reluctant to go all in. Although, imagine if Sony decided to start releasing native Linux ports instead to cut into Windows dominance. Now that would be interesting.
LOL! I have been hearing virtually every year since 1997 that this is the year of Linux on the Desktop. It never happened. It never will. Just over a year ago a number of game publishers admitted they were no longer going to waste time making Linux versions. The PC platform IS Windows. Linux always has been niche and always will be. A quarter century of history ought to teach you that by now. LOL!

And the very idea that Sony would release its games for a market that has less than 1% of the market share rather than Windows is beyond laughable. It's sad, actually.

These things take time but are possible if the right company gets behind it. Valve is going to change how Linux is viewed as a gaming platform as soon as next year. I'm willing to bet the market share will continue to increase.

Windows used to basically just be a frontend at one point, and everyone said we'd be gaming on DOS forever..
