Today is the day, or so we hope. Sony is airing their latest PlayStation Showcase event that, hopefully, finally, gives us the PlayStation 5 launch date and retail price. Considering that Microsoft already revealed both of those bits of information for their next-gen console, it can only be expected that Sony would do the same. Only time will tell if this is the event we've been waiting for. Catch the livestream, which kicks off at 1pm PDT/9pm BST, and lasts for 40 minutes, giving us "one more look" at what the PlayStation 5 will offer.

Live Coverage

The first game's footage is captured on PC emulating the PS5 experience. Square Enix.

A huge letdown of event. Out of launch window games, I'll get eventually Demon Souls only but I won't buy the console until late 2021 at least. I have zero interest in the other games shown. FF16 graphics is embrassing and game looks even less appealing than FF15. FF Series is dead to me, too western-like
Also the visuals: honestly I can't tell the difference between PS4 and PS5. Most of what has been shown looks like mid gen PS4 games. Where is ray tracing?
It seems that PS5/Series X generation will be one with the smallest perceived graphical fidelity leap over previous gen.
Very very disappointed with next gen, is 4K (60 fps?) the only improvement/innovation over current gen? Meh...

The PS5 or the Series-X will not have a big turnout. I can see gamestop doing deals where you trade in your PS4 or Xbox One for the PS5 or Series-X. If I can trade in both my PS4 and Xbox One for the PS5 and Series-X and only pay $600 for both I will do it because my PS4 is like 6 years old and my Xbox One S I recently bought that last year for $300 so I can loose $100 to get the upgrade. If they don't have a trade in deal I will just wait a few years to pick them up for $600.

I'm in no rush with the whole pandemic going around I don't see people buying this outright for $500.

They sold out pre-orders before they were even suppost to go on sale. I luckly got one from best buy and at the time there was so many on there trying to buy one that there servers couldnt handle the people. Took me over 100x trying before i finally got it in my cart and paid for without getting the message "an error has occurred"
To many people with to much money and spoiled kids that get what ever they want. Then theres people like me that just buy everything. Hell i even pre-ordered every game thats available on launch.

GameStop trade in deals already confirmed. But when, when you can get more for it on eBay or your local Facebook Swap & Shop? And you don't see people buying it outright for for $500? Uhhhhh. Pre-orders sold out, EVERYwhere. People are paying over $1000+ on eBay for one. And you're saying you don't see people paying $500? Okay.

Edit: I also had one in my cart from BestBuy, but clicking on the checkout buttons did absolutely nothing at all, for over an hour, until it finally said sold out. Was pretty bummed out.... until the pre-order invitation from Sony arrived in my email.
