No ,i didn't try on Retroach yet, i tried with this forwader ,and it drop me back to home menu everytime.
I'll look into it. I'm gonna try the PAL version since from experience FFVII and IX run too bad to be enjoyable in NTSC. I believe the PAL version needs a .sbi for anti-piracy, though let me get back to you on that.

I got it working. Made a pbp of the first disc. Set interpolation off, vsync off, used pspbios, disabled dithering. It crashed the first time after the initial cutscene after new game. Second tim ran well. Didn't notice any slowdown ever. Didn't play enough to get to a fight though

The isosite one didn't work for me.Did you say you made a separated discs or combined eboot?

Edit : yeah i tried to setting like you said ,and do separate disc format, it works perfectly for me. Looks like the combined 4 discs of Eboot won't working.

If you can be able to create a combined Eboot works ,please do tell me how did you do the magic.Thank you.

@Zense I read somewhere on net saying that CRC-32 2gb limitation problem,so my guess is we need to make disc1+2 as one ,and disc3+4 as another one set to play FF8 ,since the eboot we could create is more than 2gb itself. It isn't like FF7 and FF9 which both eboot won't surpass 2gb limitation,so they are seem to be working fine. I will try to convert it again on the next day.Hope you find your answer too and tell me the magic works or not xD.

Edit : official eboot from psn is indeed remodified to below 2gb ,but the forwarder won't works this way ,if @Sakitoshi could find a way to convert ff8 into less than 2gb ,maybe it could works.

you could pass the memory card from one folder to another and thus have several CIAS installed, sorry for bad english

yeah,i know ,but i wanna skip those steps if possible. My experiments work , i made 2 separated set ,disc1 to 2 in a single cia ,and disc 3 to 4 for another single cia ,and the game is playing good.

@wrettcaughn @mal_

Edit : the problem is it can't manually save ,only can depend on save state ,so i thinking of doing the separated 4 discs cia like @efgedy said.

Great job finding out this! Have you checked if FFVIII in a single pbp works with normal retroarch? If it does then it's a problem with the forwarder and Sakitoshi might be able to fix it. If it doesn't then it's up to the retroarch team to fix it, not Sakitoshi since he makes the forwarder creator, not retroarch.

Retroach works but has audio static in the background ,but the Sakitoshi's forwarder doesn't have the static noise, very good forwarder.
I think the problem lies to the CRC-32 2gb limitation thing ,if we could convert it into under 2gb ,it should works, because official psn eboot is 1.8gb.

we could try creating a .pbp of CD 1 and 2, then a CD 3 and 4, but it does not guarantee anything ... regarding the anti-piracy protection I found this page "consolecopyworld"

That's what @kkusagami just did.
For anti piracy you should just get the sbi files from psx-datacenter and add them to the same folder as the game, naming it exactly the same and having the same capitalization for the filetype suffix.

I created my own EBOOT.pbp for FFVII and Crash Bandicoot and converted them to CIA files, however when I try to boot both games they either kick me back to the home menu, or crash the system entirely.

Are they PAL or NTSC? Are they redump? Did you use psx2psp 1.4.2? Did you add bios to the PS1 Forwarder folder? Did the bios get noticed by the forwarder? What settings did you have enabled for the games? Next time please give more information, though I appreciate that you added the crash dump.

Both ROMs are NTSC, and I have a PAL 3DS. The injecting process went fine, with the forwarder noticing the PSXONPSP660 bios file. Default settings were applied.

I assume that I should be using PAL ISOs?

I also used the latest version of psx2psp, which was version 1.4.2

It's not that you have to but for more demanding games, usually 3D games, I recommend it just to keep a stable fps and avoiding audio hitching. FFVII is one I recommend playing in PAL for example, and for Crash Bandicoot too. Did you test the roms with normal retroarch before and after converting to .pbp? Are you on latest Luma cfw?

I’ve tested both roms using retroarch and they are both playable with minor audio lag. My luma is up to date. Thank you for the advice!

I'm running into a few issues and wondering if anyone can help me, most notably, most of the games that I've generated seem to just black screen and boot me back to home menu. Anyone have an idea as to why that might be happening? Obviously, using N3DSXL, the settings I've used was just setting everything to the "fast" preset. Tried Diablo (loads, shows opening movie, then unable to press start) crash 1,2,3, and ctr - none of which will boot, um jammer lammy, castlevania (SotN & chronicles) and a handful of others. only i seem to have working so far are Einhander and Tales of Destiny (1, 2 boots up fine but runs into a "translation" error very early on), and FF VII.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

  • Veho @ Veho:
This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
