How to install eShop games with SX OS

I am NOT responsible if you get banned or somehow mange to brick your switch

Prerequisites
  • Have a working SX OS licenses and have it set up
  • Have a copy of devmenu (I can't link to this here you'll have to find it yourself)
  • A micro SD card
  • OPTIONAL put your switch into airplane mode before doing this

Part One: Setting up your SD card

Plug your SD card into your PC. Create a folder called sxos, then create a folder inside of that and name it titles. Once you have done that create another folder and name it with the title ID for the game you plan on layeredfs-ing.

In my case it's Pokémon Quest so my file structure looks like this sxos\titles\01005D100807A000. Now put the romfs and exefs for devmenu in that folder. (I'm assuming that the copy of devmenu you have is already in layeredfs format.)
Finally put the NSP for the game you plan on installing on the root of your SD card.
At this point your SD card should look something like this

Part Two:Installing the NSP

Boot into SX OS and choose "Boot custom FW". Launch the donner title that you are using (again in my case Pokemon Quest)

You should see this come up on your screen.

Select the install from SD option. The NSP you have should now appear on screen, press A to start the installation.

You can choose either install to SD or system memory. After selecting that press A one again.

The NSP should now start installing.

Wait a few minutes and the install should finish

It is now safe to go back to the home menu and close out of devmenu

After closing out of devmenu your new game should show up

Enjoy!

LOL, so they're asking their paying customers to use the leaked DevMenuApp to install NSPs instead of bothering to develop their own method?
What a fucking joke!

They mentioned about coming up with their own NSP installer. They said this is for "advanced users" (The devmenu method). You can see the changelog here: team-xecuter.com

Hmmm, just tried Sonic Mania. No dice. It fails at 100% there must be some kind of patch that allows devmenu to install NSPs. Although I swear I saw someone on twitter install them successfully but be unable to launch them.
Also layeredfs is not enabled in the free version of SX OS. If only there were away to access devmenu or install NSPs without layeredfs...
I have got sonic mania to run as well as over 12 other games (every single one of them installs and runs) You need to use the updated CDNSP script and most importantly you need to ensure that all the title id and keys that you type into the command prompt are in lower case
(Using SXOS 1.3 ofcourse)

I tried reporting this issue at TX and people telling me that I'm doing something incorrectly or messed up something when I actually didn't. It works only on my fat32 32gb microsd card, no exfat :(

Try deleting all your saves from the donor first

Devmenu does sometimes crash when selecting other options from it. (I have since only been using the install from sd option) :-) and that works all the time without crashing

I got it to delete, still nothing once again.... It freezed at the Switch game loading screen... There is something wrong with LayeredFS and exfat, I tried it with the original LayeredFS and it doesn't want to boot the devmenu on an exfat.

Try formatting the microsd within the switch and then start over again. I have a 256gb exfat microsd with SXOS1.3 and devmenu works just fine for installing .nsp's (using pokemon quest free eshop game as donor) -. My switch is on 5.1.0 if that helps

I've tried like 4 64 gb microsd cards and 1 that was a different brand which was an "ADATA". The others were Sandisk Ultra. I literally tried everything and it gets stuck at the Switch game loading screen. (My Switch is also in v5.1)

Since games populate your OS the moment they're installed, this will nigh-guarantee a ban from eShop titles running on a console that doesn't own them nor had any way to install them. Your console would relay this info the moment you go online. These titles are considerably more risky than carts.

FYI

Abusing eShop connection privileges will just result in copping a full ban too.

Modding = Risk of ban. Period.

I have sx os, but I don't answer to mess with Devmenu. Do you reckon we'll eventually be able to install via sx os only?
