They were probably referring to the fact that pirating eShop games via Freeshop would not be possible since Nintendo can ban you but since these can still work if you are banned, just means that its still Freeshop minus online play. But yes, DevMenu did have a big helping hand in this because all other .NSP installers were grabbing them from Nintendo's servers. It should also be worth mentioning that while they let us download some of these titles while being banned, there may be a chance Nintendo will revoke full access if they see a banned console still making bogus requests.

I haven't been playing close attention to the switch scene until recently so I don't know what tweets you're talking about but, Devmenu is a tool that was made by Nintendo themselves. It is meant to be used only with devkits hence the name "devmenu". Recently it got leaked allowing us "the outsiders" to have access to it. So devmenu installing the NSPs + sigpatches makes this possible.

    Yep, it's exfat.

Damn... without RCM we would have never been able to hack the Switch at all...

Didn't the 3ds also have protections against starting apps installed via devmenu. If I remember correctly, they would only launch on a cfw with sig checks.

From what I understand, that was because we were installing DevMenu directly on a non-dev console. In this case, we're using LayeredFS to "MiTM" requests, so while the Switch thinks Pokemon Quest is running - we're actually running DevMenu with about the same level of permissions and the Switch is none the wiser (unlike the 3DS where we would be running the application directly, not spoofing it).

Tested south park as donor on 4.1.0, still no joy. If anyone gets this working on 4.1.0, please tell me.

Hmmm, now what if we spoofed it into another app with more permissions?

If there was an app that had more permissions and you were able to spoof it, it would have been done already.

Nice & clean tutorial. Tested with some games (Yono, Limbo, Inside, Death Squared,...) on SXOS 1.3 and 5.1 FW.

Edit : Zelda BOTW DLC NSP works!!

Ah that's interesting. Did you test installing any games with it?

That's fantastic. Much better long term use if there's an xci donor rather than an actual eShop download

I own the cartridge (not DLC) but use a backup (XCI Rev 002). I installed 3 NSP from the net (last update, 01007ef00011f001.nsp, 01007ef00011f002.nsp) and it worked.

I tested this my self but only installing to system memory and you can delete the .nsp after you install it.
As for if you install it to the sd card I don't know if you can as iv not tested it.
