How to UNBRICK your N3dsXL with NO SysNAND Backup File With B9S (Sighax) and Hardmod

Hi Everyone
In this post I will try to explain you what I´ve done to unbrick my new 3ds XL without having a backup of your SysNAND... In my scenario my new3dsXL was bricked by updating the firmware from v2.1 when I was trying to install arm9lh (but i think this could unbrick any bricked console no mater how was bricked -talking about software bricks ofcourse-)
I think this could help to unbrick any bricked 3ds console using the corresponding files
I would like to share the files that I´ve used to unbrick my 3ds but I dont know if I can because Iam new on this site
Well lets get started

1- Extract your SysNAND using Win32DiskImager via hardmod and take it to a safe place in your PC (doesn´t even matter if this SysNAND is fuc..ked up it could be used as a "checkpoint" in the future)

2- Follow this guide to Install B9S (sighax) in the copy of your SysNAND via hardmod (in my case I use the 11.4 native firm as current.firm -2nd Step of the Guide- because when I updated my 3ds the v11.4 was the last firm launched by Nintendo If you dont remember which firm was the last when you updated your 3ds just try one by one)
https://3ds.guide/installing-boot9strap-(hardmod)

3-Flash back to your 3ds the copy of your SysNAND that was renamed to NAND-patched.bin as the guide says with Win32DiskImager (at this point your SysNAND already has the sighax installed and now you can launch luma chainloader)

4-Download and copy to your SDCard the latest Luma Files for Boot9Strap (sighax) and the latest Decrypt9Wip for Boot9Strap (this should be at luma/payloads and in .firm Format) and make sure the file "aeskeydb.bin" is at the "files9" folder on the root of your SDCard

5-Download the 9.2 CTRTransfer file corresponding to your console from this guide (this file has to be at the "files9" folder with his .sha file)
https://3ds.guide/9.2.0-ctrtransfer.html

6-Conect the SdCard back to your 3ds and power on the 3ds holding "start" botom to launch the luma´s chainloader and launch Decrypt9Wip and then go to "Sysnand Options>CTRNAND transfer...>Auto CTRNAND transfer" complete the combo keys and choose the CTRtransfer File and wait until finish

7-After rebooting the console it has to boot Normaly then you just have to update your firm to 11.4 and install FBI and that stuff

Iam sorry for my Bad english but i tryed to do it with out the google translate
I hope you could Unbrick your console with this info
Take care and Good luck
Pease

are we able to perform this now? How would I do it and what are the dangers of it. I'm not bricked, I'm just curious
I haven't seen any evidence that it works. It might only work for flashcarts that are modified already. I tried with a normal DSTwo and it didn't work.

This could be the one thing to save my bricked 2ds that is unable to use the regular recovery menu XD

Acekard 2i and DSTwo should be able to work but I think they'll have to be reflashed first before they can be autobooted like that.

Ahh, mind if I ask which one you would personally recommend? I would just like to know I purchased one that works, and when I do, to eventually fix my mistake xD

Would this work with consoles that were hardbricked downgrading with the wrong firmware type (O3DS files on N3DS and vice versa)? Or would Sysnand be screwed?

It really does work. I've used it to unbrick a 3DS and to install boot9strap on a 3DS with 11.4.0.

I just don't want to say which card we're using so we can avoid a run on these carts.

Any idea on when this will go public?
I hate asking devs that type of question but it's driving me nuts. Have a new2ds on the way.

Hi probably not the right place to ask, but after doing this tutorial is there a way/software to set (edit with hxd or any other way) the console (nand) that initial settings are set (initial config)?
I have probably hardware issues with touchscreen controler / microchip so I cannot even start setting it up initially...

Will this fix any kind of brick? I brick one 3DS by updating using CIAs and other 3DS by using DSIWare hax to downgrade FIRM.
it should works for u just try it and reply if it worked or not !!! Advice: if you dont know how to perform a harmod on 3ds you should ask a technician to do it for you

Thanks for the advice, I did many hardmods, and it's a 3ds xl and a new 3ds XL, the two most easy in my opinion :)
yep Iam agree with you second advice is just that you have to save the bricked nand just to be used as a checkpoint .. good luck :)

Yeah keep your original bricked dump, generate a patched one, then copy from 0x0xB130000->0xB530000 and past it into the original bricked nand backup at the same offset

This shouldn't be necessary in most cases though and just the steps in the OP should be enough

Can you help me fixing this? http://gbatemp.net/threads/weird-3ds-now-bricked-by-dsiware-method.457596/
I guess my firmware was 11.2 at that time, and doing this tutorial here with 11.2 Firm didn't solve the problem, boots in bluescreen for now.

Maybe when the DS method is released i'll be abble to fix?

Thanks!

You will have to try jump through hoops backwards, figure out what was the last firmware the tools attempted to downgrade too, it's possible you used the incorrect "source" nand at the time, I have unbricked a system in a similar position but the blind hops around can be very tedious and annoying especially when there was a series of mistakes/conflicting guides and version eye, especially if you don't remember exactly what tools and options were used to arrive at the eventual brick

Personally in your position unless you want to do some mental gymnastics and tedious trial and error work I would just wait on magnethax to be released as that should fix it with no real effort involved
