Am I the only one that cant figure this out? lol I downloaded the zip and unzipped it. I downloaded and installed python 3.6. I put in the command on the thread start and then the path of the bin file and it tell me syntax error. Where does the "amiitool.exe" come into play? I guess I am just really stupid or really confused haha. Can someone please tell me how to do this? I would really like to utilize this. View attachment 81950

Just to let you know that i finally could get it working. Reinstalled Python 3.6.0, check the "Add to PATH" option once again.
Thank you !

Hmmm, after testing it writes to the power tag but the power tag is not properly read by the Switch. I'll see if there's a new update to TagMo I'm unaware of.

I think you need indeed a newer version of Tagmo to make it work. Did you managed to make it work?

I don't have my powertags yet but I'll test this next week probably.

I compiled and installed the latest TagMo fork from source and it will write to the Power tag, the Power saves software identifies it properly but the Switch rejects it. I see no where in the TagMo thread or on the Github that mentions support for the PowerTag so I'm ruling it as not compatible. While it would be more convenient I'll just keep using the PowerSaves reader/writer.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I don't know if this was also your issue but i got the 'key_retail.bin' from this site --->'snip' along with a bunch of other stuff and i added that file to the the same folder with the amiitool and the program worked perfectly.
Would you mind editing your post to remove that URL? It's considered piracy and against the terms and service of this site. I would not want my thread shutdown or locked for sharing these kinds of links.

Then I guess it was a specific fork. I guess I'll try on the WiiU or 3DS just in case it works on these... If it does not work, I'll contact the person who claimed it worked.

Anyway it's weird as you say that the powertag is correctly written and readable by the powersaves dongle. I guess it would not be difficult to make Tagmo compatible with the powertag.

Probably not. It obviously writes the character string and likely the app data but most likely fails at writing the proper serial. Unfortunately we don't even know what kind of tag the Power Tag is or how it's "emulating" an NTAG215.

I was wondering if anybody would be so kind as to leave some step by step instructions for this process. I do not know why I am having such a hard time with this. I usually have no issues with this kind of thing, but this seems to elude me. It would be much appreciated if someone would make a step by step. For example I have no idea where the actually program that we downloaded comes into play. In the instructions it never mentions opening it and just mentions python, so that confuses me as well. Sorry if I sound like a noob but it would be really cool.

Thanks!

the easiest way is to just drag the amiibo.bin file on to the amiibo_sn.py file inside the folder provided by the OP.

if you cant do that then try this, i never really used python before so if my way is not the most efficient then my apologies.

try opening cmd and typing "cd ["amiibo_sn_changer" folder path]" then press enter. since i just have the folder on my desktop it looks like this "cd C:/Users/my user/Desktop/Amiibo_SN_Changer"

after that just type in "amiibo_sn.py [path/of/amiibo.bin]" hit enter and you will be asked to select how many copies you would want to make if you are using V2 of the program linked above. since i keep my amiibo on a folder in my desktop mines looks like this "amiibo_sn.py C:/Users/my user/Desktop/zelda amiibos/BotW guardian.bin"

although i would suggest trying to drag the amiibo.bin on to "amiibo_sn.py", i hope this helps if nothing else was working for you.

it works fine for me (using the power tag without frying it)

edit: I am even using the "official" PowerSaves software from datel without any problems :O

I hate how my question got buried in tech support for the script:

Again:

So how come mine stopped working? Is it possible I wrote too fast? What's the best technique in writing to the PowerTag with your modified bins? For someone aiming to grind amiibo's for his play session quickly? Should I even write that many amiibos in one day? What's your technique?

Please advise!!

I trusted my question would be answered, but it's obvious I need to keep reposting it.

I never claimed simply using the tag fries it. I claimed doing it over and over again (which IS the purpose of this tool) - fries it. And without the OP answering me as to proper frequency usage...I'm going to stick by the fact that this method is terrible for the PowerTag without any other clarification if you are looking to do 55+ writes to the thing in under 2 hours.

Honestly, it just seems like OP's rewrites (of which he says he did 100+) were in no way very quick or fast. Which leads me again to the whole...why not just change the time at that stage considering lower frequency use of the PowerTag is near pointless or the same time anyways as changing the time...?

Do I need the retail bin in the same folder as well?

Do you have any answer for my huge question above? I wonder what the point of your tool is if grinding amiibo's is not a realistic possibility with a PowerTag without frying it.

the point of his tool is that there are other options than the powertag
+ the powertag may work for others just fine (at least for me it does)

According to your screenshot you're already in a python environment (as seen at the top of the window) so you would not call python a second time. So just 'amiibo_sn.py "/path/to/amiibo.bin"' would do.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

AFAIK, not every NTAG215 can be rewritten. Once it has a bin on it, you wont be able to change it and will just like any other amiibo (scan once a day)
The N2 can store up to 200 bins and switch between them with a button so no need to manually change the bin every time you want a new scan.
Dont know about the PowerTag.
All NTAG215's can be re-written as long as they have not had their lock bit set. Unfortunately for an Amiibo to be recognized this lock bit needs to be set thus for our purposes NTAG215's are one time use.

N2 is a device that has an NFC shield and runs software that can store and emulate an NFC tag. The Power Tag is just a re-writable tag that can store NTAG215 data without getting locked. The Power Tag can only hold one BIN at a time but otherwise can be re-used.

Very important no one do this with a PowerTag

Enough writes to the tag using the Datel Powersaves writer = fried Powertag.

It's a common occurrence a lot of people without one aren't aware. I just fried mine doing a Guardian amiibo over and over. Not a good idea. Another person says no matter if you do it all at once - or over a long period of time - the PowerTag 100% fries. OP do you even have a powertag?

At this point - I would use a NTAG215...or just change the system time...

why can one not just use your modified bin on blank NFC tags? What makes PowerTag/N2 different from a standard NTAG215 keyfob from china or a blank NTAG215?

Now I have to return my powersave....signed up just to write this!

I can confirm that the powertag can get fried or corrupted, I'm not sure if it's a finite amount of read/writes or if I was doing too fast as well. It happened to me twice but luckily I live near many gamestops and exchanged it easily. It worked fine but when I use the serial changer to "farm" an amiibo quickly that's when it stopped working.

about how many writes did you do? just curious since ive used mines about 20 times (thought i had to register all amiibos so i wasted my time)

another question, when did it stop being scanned? did the switch/Wii U/3DS not read it after you wrote the new amiibo data to it or did your console read it and then it just stopped working (wouldn't be read by the powersaves base) ?

i did not know gamestop would replace it if the powertag stopped working, hopefully i could do the same but i do have a extra 10 power tags to hold me off if something like that happens

Typical. OP checks thread multiple times and is not responding to my PowerTag question. Silence is the biggest answer ever. Seems I will keep posting in this thread so OP does not end up ruining other people's PowerTag.

AVOID usage with PowerTag.

To person above me: They don't just "replace" the PowerTag. They will ask for EVERYTHING back. And you know how finicky the UPDATING hardware on the NFC writer is. I don't recommend it.

As I mentioned - I wrote 55 times to mine = DEAD PowerTag over the span of a solid 2 hours.

I don't recommend using this for your PowerTag. OP is severely not knowledgeable about PowerTags.

Thanks. Glad I'm not the only one with this problem. And I know a few others with PowerTags that fried theirs using this tool and farming. I would urge OP to remove "PowerTag" from his topic. It simply isn't useful for PowerTags.

now im worried flashing the powertags a lot.. it is just thru normal use or when using this software?
