I am curious, how would I go about making the screen size of VC games better for TVs?

I'm trying to play Dragon Quest 9 and would like the top and bottom screens to be displayed similar to the DS config they already have, but larger so that I can actually read the text. Does anyone have a tutorial or a program that can do this?

I couldn't figure it out either. There are a few games where the vertical screens would be best, but without the ugly ds picture so they were scaled to fit the full top to bottom range of the TV.

You can make edits in the configuration_cafe.json file found in the content folder when you're looking at the dumped files on a PC.

My first suggestion is to grab the configuration_cafe.json of the Brain Age DS VC, swap it with the one in Dragon Quest 9, and load it up with that. It gives you 6 different options that you can rotate through while playing the game (top left button in the VC pause menu). If none of those are exactly what you want, you can then mess with the numbers (back in the configuration_cafe.json) to try expanding and moving the screen about.

Since I'm kind of wondering the same thing... is it possible to make an n64 game output in stretched 4:3?

There were a few people trying to figure that out, but was proving to be a royal pain in the arse. Snes games and DS games can be modded to have different aspect ratios, but N64 games are truly painful to edit. You can ask @shutterbug2000 or @QuarkTheAwesome if they have any leads.

Do you know if there are any good Tutorials or programs for doing DS games?

Obviously I'm not a programer *or even that smart* but I would -think- for some of the programers here, making an app that could reposition screens and size for DS wouldn't be -that- hard.

DS games uses config files, their screen layouts are literally editing simple text.

I've been seeing that.. my problem *and yes I realize it's my problem and that I'm stupid* is I can't seem to ever understand the "x postion" and "y position" and figure out how I'm supposed to find them on my TV and all that to make the adjustments myself.

There are templates to download where you don't need to alter much, if anything. I suggest asking the people I tagged in my post above.

Like i mentioned, if you download a Loadiine-Ready Brain Age, you can simply swap the configuration_cafe.json file in for more options... no editing required unless you really want to change things further from there.

I've got a space set aside for it in the program I'm writing but I probably won't implement a solution for a visual editor until v2. Just getting out ROM replacement and image editing is priority #1.

Okay.. I'll look at it. Thanks!

And I look forward to when you do get around to the visual editor.
