I don't claim to know how the restoration process works.
But you had already """found the bug""", so you must have known at least that much.
I only know that 4.5 uses 00000012.app and not 0000000f.app.
Who knows the crap that is in those encrypted GW DG packs.
And that manually installing a lower TWL_FIRM would have erased any remnants of a GW downgrade.

So, your assumption does not hold up.

5.2 worked with them. 5.4 did not until I installed the new version. So, something got removed.

Attitude? That was a joke. Definition of an expert -- one who avoids the simple mistakes while sweeping on towards the grand fallacy. Perhaps you lack an understanding of the concept of humor? Since you're here, your guide could use some work. All that mention of RedNAND is confusing. Why have people create a non-GW-compatible RedNAND when you're just going to have them erase it? Gateway owners, who do need to keep EmuNAND around, need it to be a regular one.

Anyway, she was blowing me off like I was some noob that hadn't read the FAQ or something, and completely ignoring any facts I presented that countered her assumptions.

That was a joke.
It doesn't even remotely read like one, nor is it funny.

That's actually not at all what the definition of an expert is, have you ever opened a dictionary before?

Perhaps you lack an understanding of the concept of humor?
Perhaps you lack the ability to successfully use humor?

RedNAND can use smaller file sizes on larger NAND devices (I.E: 1.2gb backups even if you have a 1.8gb NAND). Additionally, Gateway users can just pretend anything that says "RedNAND" instead says "EmuNAND" because they are very similar implementations of the same concept.

Anyway, she was blowing me off like I was some noob that hadn't read the FAQ or something, and completely ignoring any facts I presented that countered her assumptions.
This is not an acceptable excuse for your attitude.

Also, your ridiculously grandiloquent vocabulary only makes it seem less like you understand what you're talking about; you really should stop with it.

Also, 0000000f.app was ALL that was on two of these. There was no 00000016.app present. 5.2 worked with them. 5.4 did not until I installed the new version. So, something got removed. I will not join in the name-calling. What you think of me is irrelevant. I've said what I had to say. I still consider your CFW the finest around, was not attacking it in any way, and was merely trying to help. I don't know why you get so defensive.

Did you you really take a shot at Plailect's guide? Wow... I mean, the guide tells you why making a RedNand is a step, and considering the process involved in installing A9LH (The, you know, downgrading part) requires an emunand at some point, you should be able to riddle that bit out on your own.

Really, I understand that you're unhappy that your specific issues couldn't be solved to the degree you desired. But it's not Aurora's fault. She isn't responsible for the crap you do. If you screw around with something and have issues, you can come to a forum for help. People will even try to help you. But if you start being a condescending jerk to everyone, well, they reserve the right to not give a damn about you anymore.

So, It's safe to update to the latest firmware with this CFW? didn't nintendo broke anything?
Updated and everything is working just fine on my end. Including GBA/DS(i) and the system setting patches, all work. I am also not using a firmware.bin.

Smea said update only wants to patch ninjhax and oothax. So if you are currently on a9lh you can update. You are safe.

Your own solution is to reinstall TWL_FIRM. If I had installed TWL_FIRM, then I had already fixed the problem.

There was only 1 file on two of these units. There was no older or newer version to give preference to.

But this is getting us nowhere. It's working now. I'll report any further issues if they arise. Thanks for making the best CFW I have ever used. I just wish you would treat me like someone who knows what they're talking about. Later.

It doesn't even remotely read like one, nor is it funny.

That you thought I was serious about that definition only proves my point. Also, those smaller sizes almost got me stuck on 2.1 actually. OTP Helper gave me a wrong file size error because of it the first conversion I did. It's been fixed, but still, a can of worms best left unopened if you ask me. It's not like the backups have to stay on the card. And I'm not sure when having a vocabulary became a crime, but w/e.

We'll treat you like someone who knows what they're talking about when you actually know what you're talking about... Based on your statements, it sounds to me like you mixed up your sys and emuNAND when running the restore (since sysNAND had the file in question and the keep a9lh doesn't actually touch the filesystem), so a simple mistake on your part and you start insulting the devs who (as stated above) do this work FOR FREE, you aren't entitled to anything, like getting free advice when you don't know what to do or try on your own, so yes we'll be condescending, mean assholes if we want, you don't have to like it, accept it, or use the software provided if you don't want... Since, you know, it's all free when there are people who get paid to write code instead of just putting it out there.

It's safe to update, but homebrews that use svcBackdoor (e.g. RetroArch CIAs and BootNTR, which would just dump debug info) will no longer work right (i.e. they will crash) until a workaround is made.
Has anyone confirmed downgrading yet? Is downgrading patched, assuming we get back OoThax/Ninjhax, or is it too early to tell?

Someone said downgrading doesn't work (which is what I would expect)

However, hardmod downgrading will still work.

OoT3ds will be back in a few days probably, but because they disabled HTTPC access in CN it could be a long time before we get it back

from what i have seen its patched
Thank you for the replies. A bit disappointed to hear that, but I hope a softmod workaround is found eventually!
