I agree. Unfortunately not all routers have this setting, for example mine.

I take that. This is the safer and most relliable way only if one's router is supported

I use "Toshiba Flashair III" and host exploit files from it so I don't need to block anything and it makes my WiiU exploits portable without any hassle of setting up a filter on a friends or family members ISP etc. etc.

I never have to worry if urls are being blocked or if my WiiU happened to bypass the DNS settings somehow because the SD never connects to the web. my opinion it's the perfect setup.

but believe me if I could have blocked url's I probably would have since most users haven't reported anything going wrong by doing so.

I want to reiterate here that Open DNS is only a good option if you have a STATIC IP. Typically you pay for this service. If your IP is dynamic, you will be updated.

oops yeah, that is what I use to block my 3ds's from updating.. Forgot I am actually blocking my Wiiu at my router by MAC address.

yea I use opendns since my IP Is static and I also unplug the wii u when not in use

Can streetpass or spotpass update the wii u? Like another nintendo console or handheld in proximity?

I block them through my router settings, but I also have TubeHax DNS on my Wii U. I feel like it's safer, although I'm fully aware it might just be a placebo.

Can't you make an IP static through your router settings? I know you can on DD-WRT.

raspberry pi running a webserver and hosting the browser files and creating its own wifi network to connect with the wiiu...never have to worry as the rpi never is connected to a internet connected network
