I heard that once A9LH is set up, the system can't boot up without an SD card, so what would happen if I were to lose my SD card or it breaks or something? It's unlikely to happen, but just to be sure.

You'd just put the A9LH bin's on a new SD.

I have a n3ds with a 64GB sd. Are SDXC (formatted to FAT32) supported with this method? Or only SDHC/SD can be used in 2.1?

Everything went well until I needed to launch otphelper, through the arm11.bin github, while on 2.1 fw. I just get a black screen.

meh , on my old 3ds , 10.0.3 , got evrething to work up to the 10 sec after the installation of all the cia , nothing happened , i waited for 30 sec before manually turning it off . Tried to boot , black screen , try again without the sd card , black screen . Now its only black screen . its bricked right ?

Try the recovery mode: L + R + A + Up (Dpad). You have to press the buttons while powering on.

When I flash my bricked 2.1 emunand to sysnand, should I use OTPHelper or Decrypt9 or doesn't that matter?
Nevermind, OTPHelper did the trick.

When I try to boot my (old) 3ds after following the guide, I get an error saying "target payload not found: a19h/ARN.bin press any button to shutdown"

Anyone able to help me figure this out?

The guide has been updated to use CakesFW and updated SysNAND mode. I am using Cakes because it will be easier to troubleshoot since #Cakey maintains CakesFW and updated SysNAND mode for the following reasons:

1. The SD card space could be very important for some users
2. The EmuNAND model of having two OSs will confuse noobs
3. If a noob hears about updated SysNAND after and tries to do it without a good guide, they will probably brick themselves

It appears to be a bug in decrypt9, I'm looking into it.
