When I'm pressing Y to downgrade, the screen turns black and there and a few red pixels on the bottom left corner of the screen. Every time I reboot and try again I get the same result.
Was curious what my options were as to playing pirated stuff, region free translations, etc. It came out of the box at 9.9 though, can it still be downgraded?
Sure, you only need a way to run homebrew (I think 9.9 or less didn't have the browser nag problem, so you could run browserhax to install menuhax).
When you had installed menuhax, you're ready to run safesysupdater or sysupdater.
Hey guys, hoping I could get some help. I'm trying to run browserhax on 9.9.0-26U but everytime I try to run the page using the qrcode a message pops up saying "The internet browser cannot be used at this time. Please check your network environment or try again later." Any suggestions?
I read somewhere it helped. I put it on auto and it said I needed a system update, does this mean I'm screwed?
Hi guys, I haven't really played much with my 3DS in a while and needed help with my gateway because I forgot just about everything. I am currently on 4.5u and my gateway version says Omega 2.6 whatever that means. What I wanted to know is that if there is anyway to play the games on my gateway on line (Doesn't it have to do with emunand, I don't remember). Also, is their specific games that I have to update my gateway for in order to play? Lastly what is this whole cia thing? Thanks.

I can do it (i've rxtools etc) but i've seen people not being okay with a not clean sysNand... I'd like to play GBA Games but i don't want to have bad things with my sysNand.

You can play online with an updated emuNAND. CIAs are a format that the 3ds uses. They're like the 3DS' .exe version, they are installation files basically.
You can't play GBA games on emuNAND without having it installed on sysNAND also. So, no, you have to install it on sysNAND too.
Yeah I know that, that's not my question, i would like to know WHY and if it's bad to put things on a clean SysNAND

It's not bad , but people would rather have a clean sysnand and mess with everything else on Emunand
You can use your gba games on emunand if the nands are linked , if they aren't , you must install them on both , Emunand and Sysnand for them to work on emunand

The 3DS reboots into the GBA firmware when GBA VC is started and that is why GBA VC needs to be installed to both SysNAND and EmuNAND. It isn't really bad, people just just prefer to mess around with their emuNAND than their sysNAND
Yep, both are linked, but if it's only about the mess on the sysNAND it's not really a problem for me :3

So, I have an NA 3ds on OFW 10.5, and I'm just desperate to play bravely second's demo release for EU public only, I would like to know if there is a way to by pass this somehow and finaly play this demo. Thank you very much

I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer

@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one -

I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version

@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!

I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though

@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves -
