Hello,

I have a O3ds XL on 4.4 and wish to update to 9.2 and auto boot into Gateway.
Can someone please clarify the steps are correct.

1/. Obtain 9.2 update and uncompress and place in updates folder in root of internal sd card.
2/. Install sysupdater, if using FBI set to sd.
3/. Load rxtools dev mode
4/. Run sysupdater app.

This is where i get stuck.
I read about Menuhax and ctrbootmanager but dont fully understand.
I also read about GW.3dsx.
Could someone please assist with the remaining steps i would really appreciate it alot.

Thanks

Steps are correct (make sure you are using sysupdater 0.4.1).

Next steps would be:
1) Get Browserhax installed.
2) Use Browserhax to install Menuhax 2.0
3) Get ctrbootmanager.

Menuhax is an entrypoiny that let's you use the homebrew launcher just after booting your console by using hacked savedata, to install the hacked savedata you need another entrypoint (Browserhax in this case).

Ctrbootmanager is what it sounds, a boot manager, not much to say about it, it runs from Menuhax and can boot any CFW/Gateway/the homebrew launcher.

Once your system is updated, you need to find an exploit that can be used as an entrypoint for homebrew. Browserhax will work just fine since you're on the o3ds. Once you load into homebrew (might take a few attempts, make sure to clear web cookies/etc.), install menuhax. I recommend using type2 bootmode.

Then rename your homebrew boot.3dsx to something like bootHBL.3dsx, and place the ctrlib boot on the root of the sd card and call it boot.3dsx

Then you're done.. but I don't know if you have to redo emunand and stuff, since i've only downgraded, not upgraded

More faster: rename Gateway.3dsx to boot.3dsx

You save what? A minute or two at most??? Ctrbootmanager is "installed" by simply dragging 2 files to the SD card, creating an entry for GW.3dsx it takes as much time as typing that in the config file...

He might get a kick out of trying the homebrew launcher or try some CFW for GBA/DSiware...

I don't see the benefit on that lazyness.

So after installing menuhax 2.0 do i just rename gateway.3dsx to boot.3dsx and place in root of internal sd card?
Do i need to install ctrbootmanager also?
How does ctrbootmanager know to load the boot.3dsx file or do i need to change settings?

Thanks

Menuhax loads boot.3dsx automatically, no need of ctrbootmanager.

Ctrbootmanager is optional, but is recommended as you can load GW.3dsx, the homebrew launcher (rename it to boot_hb.3dsx) or any CFW you might want to try.

Oh so if i rename Gateway.3dsx to boot.3dsx it should boot directly into emunand once the unit is switched on is that correct?
