Hello there,

I'm currently trying to downgrade my New 3DS from 10.1.0.27E to 9.2.0.20E however there's on thing that won't allow me to do this...
I can't seem to get past the kernel exploit on neither the sysUpdater nor FBI app. The updater simply tells me an error message and that it can't read the installed titles (or freezes which is rare) and FBI either freezes when it comes to "Done" (which is the kernel exploit successfully executed but yeah...) or will simply just run half of the routine making it useless.

However people said that this issue can only be fixed by resetting the 3DS. That'd mean I'd lose all my eShop games (maybe export as CIAs?), save files, Streetpass Miis and so on.

My question now is:
Can this prior to downgrading be somehow exported and then re-imported once the downgrade is complete?

Thanks already!

Then you're screwed.
Maybe next time, you'll realise something.
Don't downgrade on an n3DS without a Hardmod.
Can you stop being a douche for a short moment? I neither bricked my N3DS nor did anything bad to it just yet. I successfully downgraded 2 O3DS with sysUpdater just fine, set up EmuNAND on both of them on 10.3 and they're working like they should.

Well at least for the savegames, I used svdt to backup all the important ones, the tool works with userland homebrew access. I'll see if that actually works, as my first game is currently downloading, so I'll report back if that savegame still works.

For eshop games: There is a guide around here to gain eShop access, which worked for me, so you "just" have to redownload them.

Sorry, read the OP wrong.
Just keep rebooting.
But seriously, get a hardmod.
Don't come crying to GBAtemp.net if it bricks.
I had my N3DS opened already but yeah it's not as easy as that. Besides, a hardmod wouldn't let me "backup" anything either really since everything is encrypted, a reset would reset these keys too making the NAND backup pretty much useless...

Hm... That'd clear that out at least. Then there'd still be stuff like the playtimes, streetpass stuff, notes, etc. which would all be lost after this.

I know I'm kinda pickish with that right now but there's a personal reason why this stuff is kind of important for me ^^"

I don't really think you know what you're talking about, my friend.
I know what I'm talking about :P
I had my 3DS opened and nearly fully taken apart until I realized that there's really just a tiny space in there which I could fit the cables through after soldering them to the testpoints.
And the main reason for backing up the NAND would be to use it as EmuNAND later on or as backup for when someone fucks up. I'm not sure but if you reset your 3DS and use the NAND backup you made before that the keys won't be the same anymore to decrypt it so theoretically EmuNAND shouldn't work either?

Which sysupdater version did you use btw? It took me quite some hours to downgrade, mainly because I used a not-so-well working version the whole time xD
I can recommend julian20's version for that

And what do you need FBI for before downgrading?
I downgraded, installed an emuNAND and then injected FBI into H&S, as it is apparently not working otherwise on n3DS.

No FBI was just an example here since it's using the same payload to get kernel access ;)
Also not sure if I should trust this release since the latest, official sysUpdater (downloaded around 4 PM today) had something implemented that should prevent a full system brick from happening, not only on O3DS but also N3DS.
The thing you posted now is from monday which I guess is not as safe...

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I fail to see what purpose that serves, but whatever.
*shrugs and leaves*
Me too since we all quoted his posts already... Well who cares \o/

Ah okay, so I misread as well :D
You do make a point there, I guess. Well it was the most recommended release yesterday as there are, to my knowledge no reported bricks with that. But one can never be cautious enough with those things, you're right ;)

I can't really risk a full system brick without a hardmod just yet. I will do it eventually but since @JustPingo will release his KTM tomorrow I'll give that a try before going to the hassle of that. I can (hopefully) always recover with an update if that fails.
