The devmode doesn't work on n3ds yet, so we must use this instead to install a cia manager the first time.

What? The only thing dev mode is needed for is upgrading/downgrading FW. You don't need it to install a cia manager...

That what I said, you install a cia manager first using cakes or pasta then you create your emunand. There is currently no other way without a Gateway. (the fbi injection doesn't work on n3ds)

You don't need cakes or pasta specifically, and it still has nothing to do with devmode. You can use rxtools. All you need is to launch the homebrew launcher twice. The first time is to launch ANY CFW into sysnand (to patch out signature checks and gain access to services), the second time is to launch FBI.3dsx to install FBI.cia.

EDIT: Ok, now I remember why that USED to be an issue. Launching the homebrew launcher couldn't work before if firmlaunch was used, because there wasn't any known entry point in the newer NATIVE_FIRMs. That is no longer a problem with HBL 2.1 (of which there has been recent progress to allow gaining services on firmwares <= 9.2).

and I can boot rxtools with browserhax, then use browserhax again to load HBL 2.1... but it seems to break FBI anyway. You win

(Edit: FBI will run, it just won't install anything)

But... either way, at least it can be done now. Not too long ago you were screwed without a gateway, CN, or another 3DS that was already pwned.

Is this true it's just like old pasta / devmode? This doesn't have firm launch? If so that helps me greatly

crap! the PastaCFW Configurator is pulling a 404 error for file3.bin but I need it for an experiment...is firmlaunch permanently broken for those who don't have it?? goddamnit if only Rxtools had it! is it ethical to share the unknown file3.bin?..

You are wrong, rxtools has firmlaunch enabled by default FYI.

It works. Just make sure you grab the right version for your 3DS. And no CFW has successfully spoofed triforce heroes.... Requires the trickery of cryotifixing
