Hello,

Is it possible to install the GBA ambassadors games CIA and play them with GW emunand? (Or sysnand) ?

And can we inject gba rom into these gba ambassador games?

Thanks

if you have 4.5, you can use PBT cfw and play pirated gba games like that (dsiware too)
if not, then no, there is no other way to play gba games that are not legit for your system.

we cannot publicly inject our own gba games, i doubt so many people have looked into it because they would only be bootable using PBT.
smea managed it, so it is definitely possible :)

you cannot play pirated gba games using gw.
only PBT, which is 4.x only.

Somebody on another forum figured out how. You have to build the ambassador games with funky cia then run them on sysnand with PBTCFW. The first ones dumped were the JPN ambassador titles. The official scene releases are broken and will not work.

Magikarp'd ^^

Do you know any particular reason he hasn't shared the method? I mean, he has stated that he has no problem with people pirating games for older systems on the 3DS, and Nintendo doesn't sell GBA games for the 3DS VC anyway.

Because piracy, rom loading, you know?

Gba ambassador games are pirated.
Smealum made emulation of older systems more accessible on the 3DS via his homebrew launcher, and that's piracy as well. When people brought that up, he basically said "Eh. They're old games, and it probably won't hurt VC sales too much, so it's ok in my book."

Ok, smealum - any pointers with injecting gba games?
Is it basically the same as injecting other vc games? Or is anything really special?
thanks :)

ehhh, i don't remember saying that... if you're referring to what i said in that eurogamer article you might want to re-read it because you missed some key points (like, i did say i saw nothing wrong with people emulating old games... if they own the game in question). also, my general answer to people who ask how homebrew is ok since it allows emulators which are often used for piracy is that saying that i'm encouraging piracy through emulation by making homebrew possible is the same as saying that microsoft encourages piracy by letting emulators run on windows, or google on android etc.
(spoiler alert : they're not)

anywaaaay

i don't own any ambassador titles (having only gotten a 3DS like... 2 years ago ? huh that actually sounds like a lot) so i've never been able to take a look or experiment with them myself, so i'm not an authority on this. however, iirc the idea was that exefs was basically just a GBA rom and the exheader indicated that it should be run with AGB_FIRM. so assuming you have a proper way to boot into AGB_FIRM (not sure if any of the public solutions provide that) and a way to modify ambassador titles' exefs, it should be trivial afaik.

yes, a 4.5 only cfw has been out for a while (based on the leaked one) called PBT. it boots gba games fine - so i'll have a look at the exefs. thanks :)
i guessed you had some ambassador titles since i was just going off that picture of pokemon ruby you posted ages ago, at least i think that was you... ha

Oh, my bad, it seems I misremembered. You're right, I just reread that interview and what you said was more along the lines "I don't see a problem with playing ROMs if you own the game" and "The homebrew scene is small, so I don't think emulation on 3DS should significantly hurt VC sales".

Wouldn't it be easier to just buy a GBA and those games? You'd get features that the Ambassador versions omit as well.

You're talking about buying games? You must be new here. It'd be "easier" for most to buy their games, but piracy is cheaper.

Also, for some it's sadly a better option when they live in countries with stupidly high game prices compared to the rest of the world. Some also view it as a technical challenge.

Does this cfw has a thread?

well, what about in my case? my 3DS's sysnand is 4.4, but I did the system transfer from my old standard 3DS's sysnand to the XL's emunand as soon as I had the gateway. So they are legally mine. But I still can't run any of them. Or the DSiWare that is tied to my account. That's really all I want to be fixed/addressed at this point.

ah if you system transferred to an emunand yeah you can't run the gba games in that.
you could copy the ticket.db to sysnand and reinstall the gba games and you could play them, pretty sure
