Long story short; I hex edited Magician's Quest to have the students I wanted (Which involved changing hex values in specific address). Assuming that it would be would the same in the Japanese only game (known as Tongari Boushi Mahou Tsukai); but it seems that's not the Case. I've been searching for where the exact location of where hex codes for in town students (so I can swap one of the characters with a much better) since yesterday to today, but no cigar; I've been searching in the nds file via a multiple hex editors, but since I can't read hexadecimals; It's been a pain looking for the exact value for the character I wanna swap. Can anyone please help point out where exactly the address for the slot of the student (the student in question is named Chester If it helps his original hex number in the first game is 0x0c the character is name Martha and if I think I'm doing this right her ID in the game's NPC files is 1139) and their hex values in the nds file hexes (I have no idea if hexes is the right term in this situation sorry if that isn't helpful! ;_; )
If it helps I'll provide the save file in question. (Please note that the sub title of the game is English translation for Japanese only game in question)

What exactly are you expecting here..?

The usual way to do something like this is to create two different save files with different characters. Then you compare them in a hex editor and see where they differ, and hopefully you can figure out which bytes correspond to the characters you're looking at. You can even make a third save file with other characters and hopefully that will narrow it down even further.

I mean if anyone knows what Martha's hex value is and what are the exact address for students are. for example, I have a save for Chester that's for Magician's Quest. If I wanted to put him in another Magician's Quest Save that doesn't have I would find the Address, Put him in the one I wanted to put him (for example The Save that has chester has him in slot 9, There are 11 slots for each Starting Student, Each slot has a specific hex address associated with them; Slot 1 is 0x651e and the slot that houses Chester is 0x6a3e;) by putting hex number (his is 0x0c) in said address; effectively swapping the student (Let's say... Christine... who hex is 0x5b) with chester, But, AFAIK there hex addresses in Mahou Tsukai are Much Different than Magician's Quest. Magician's Quest was easy to find because of Layton's Land's MQ Reader Which is where I found the addresses and hex values/bytes/Numbers. I took me Half day to do that due to the fact that was my doing something in a hex editor. that being said, There is no (at least from what I found via Search engines) Mahou Tsukai save reader. There is a Save Editor however the body offset they show me doesn't seem to be the slot/addresses for the student. they also don't show the hexes for the students. Chester (the one I'm trying to switch who's in slot 4) hex is also seemingly different then the one from Magician's quest. I think Martha's hex is 0x70 however changing any instances of 0x0c (Chester) doesn't seem to work as Chester seems to keep showing up instead of Martha. I'm a massive noob to hex editors (I always refused use one cuz i hate them and I only used one for Magician's Quest because I was getting tired of save scumming and not getting the students I wanted) and I can't read hex and decipher hex. If anyone can tell me which is which I'd greatly appreciate that.
