I was interested in Gateway until v2.0b2.

More important points for each...
  1. Do you currently need/want (or anticipate the need/want for) region-free?
  2. Can you easily run homebrew with alternate methods (possibly for less money)?
  3. Do you currently (or anticipate the) need/want for anything that isn't released in .3DS format?
It supports all roms to date, emulated nand, homebrew launching, CIA installations, region free, downgrade, cart/saves dumping and probably more features.
...
Sky3DS on the other hand works on all FW versions, but only have roms launching.

Is it about the brick code Gateway had on v2.0b2? Because that's been resolved for quite a long time now.

  1. Yes, because some of us really want to play 3DS games from different regions since the 3DS is region locked. Even more so for many 3DS/New3DS users that have, for example, a Japanese 3DS/New3DS, but they want to play 3DS games in English so Gateway's region-free solution is perfect for them. Although, it's not on the subject of region-free, Gateway can also run modified roms like undubs, fan-translations, etc.
  2. Yes, maybe, idk... I got Cubic Ninja for less than $5 before the price went up. Not to mention I have a copy of OoT3D from launch date.
  3. Yes, .3DZ for online play. Although, the roms in .3DZ can switch back to .3DS at anytime.

EDIT: I have also noticed if you boot in to EmuNAND and check your FW version via the system menu and then go back to the home screen and then check the FW version again via the system menu it reverts back to the system FW and not the EmuNAND version anymore. Does this actually deactivate emunand mode or is it just a bug where it reverts back to showing the system FW verison?

That's always been a thing. When you exit system settings it just kicks you back to sysnand cos it resets the 3DS in a sense

Which, between Gateway-Ninjhax, KARL3DS and OSKA3DS will release first?
Place your bet ;) :vul2:

I had that issue, had to rerun the exploit and format the emunand on the N3DS. again. After that had to set up as new. Then update the emunand again then had to login to Nintendo network for all the eshop stuff to transfer over and had to download everything from the eshop.

Just did the system transfer and got the same error. I will try the trick to format emunand, it's just to get back the pokemon bank personally (already paid it 3 times with all the 3DS, prefer to transfer it this time xD)

Dunno for you but maybe it's because we left the emunand unlinked? (thought it would be better to do a system transfer) as during the first reboot, it tried and failed to connect to internet with sysnand. Then, after the exploit, tried and failed to connect again.

I'll try to reload the Gateway Menu and do a "Format Emunand" and see how it goes.

Worked. Once Emunand is formatted, you just need to enter your NNID again in emunand (no need to enter it in sysnand, even if the emunand is linked with sysnand). Then, the pokebank and other stuffs I had on my old 3DS can now be redownloaded.

Thanks for the trick!

So I've got my Gateway card and can boot into Gateway mode but when I check the firmware version there is no 'GW' prefix. I know it's EMUNAND as I've placed a bunch of folders on the SYSNAND homepage to spell out 'SYS' and 'NAND' (the EMUNAND home screen is default icons).

I think I remember seeing a few days ago something about it happening to other people but I've only just gotten around to looking at it now. Should I update it anway? Re-format EMUNAND?

Cheers ^_^
I remember it like it was yesterday when you were shitting on GW and everything they stand for saying that they're the worst and Sky rocks... Guess who came back to mama GW's titties

Oh their business practices are straight garbage, even for a piracy joint. I still use my SKY daily and it still is a better product for what I require but I bought a Gateway back in November and thought I'd pirate some eShop titles ;)

Using it to emulate OOT? >< No but really, I've bought one for myself mainly because OOT and CN. When a CN CFW that has a working emunand gets released I'll probably stick with Sky/CN.
