Yup. You can't install patches for out-of-region games though.
What does that even mean? Can you give me an example?

you have US console....playing jap mario kart....cant get the 1.1 patch
ps not tried it myself but i assume thats what he means
Let's say you have a US 3DS and tried to play the JP retail cartridge of Pokemon X. It would work, but attempting to play online would redirect you to the eShop in order to update the game. However, the eShop is region locked. You would be redirected to the US eShop and that only contains the patch for the US game, not the JP one, so you would be unable to download the correct patch. What does that even mean? Can you give me an example?
Even if that is true, (I'm not saying it's not true, mind you) the main reason for wanting region free in the first case would be to get games that never make it to your region or take a very long time, and patches for those games won't be available on your region's eShop for obvious reasons. Most patches or "updates" for games are independent of region. Months ago I tested the Taiwanese rom of Mario Kart 7 in my American 3DS, and the 1.1 update appeared on the screen.

So has anyone had a chance to test this with the new hex edit to the launcher.dat file? I am looking into buying Monster Hunter 4, but it would be pointless to buy it if I can't download the patch needed to play online.
with this game specifically, the patch might work from the us shop anyway? hmm worth a tryLet's say you have a US 3DS and tried to play the JP retail cartridge of Pokemon X. your account is online, so it won't be deletedpretty happy with this accessing nintendo e-shop nd playing demos, Is it okay to buy games from the e-shop will they always remain in my account or will they be deleted once I remove emunand?
well thanks, now only if someone could explain how this hex editing worked did it removed some code to check if the gateway cart is inside the slot?your account is online, so it won't be deleted
hmmm technically so is the blue card XDEmuNAND has always worked without the Red Cart, you just need a ds mode cart to run the mset hack installer, the red cart is just the "warez" cart
Wait wait... Sorry if this has been answered, but does this could allow me to play online with the original cart?
