:/, well, it means that when a GW clone surfaces, 3DS scene will be killed right?

What makes you think the clones will be as robust as the original in terms of stability and features?

seems like someone gets it
everyone else complaining in the other thread, its almost baffling
all they think about is saving there money and not getting progress

Because they're self-entitled cheapskate crybabies. They prefer cheap Chinese knockoffs that work for a month and break down.

All thanks to those pillocks who decrypted it. Nice going, whoever they are.
If it weren't for people "Decrypting" we would have no hacks... ever.

Why is it that decrypting console keys is considered progress, but decrypting flashcart files isn't? You're okay with Nintendo/developers/publishers losing interest in the 3DS, but god forbid Gateway, the saviors of the 3DS who are the only ones who can apparently hack it, does as well.

It seems. •_•)
this has opened ( •_•)>⌐■-■

What makes people think this will lead to more hacks and the eventual homebrew? I'd love to see the 3DS hacked as much as the next guy, but why are people not voicing the fear that the GW team will rage quit as a result? Then where are we?

Region-free on 3DS, wow!
Now I'll need to buy Gateway ASAP, but my 3DS is on 6.1:|
I don't know if I should wait, maybe they make 6.1 work, or sell my 3DS quickly, and buy a new one with 4.5...

Just wait it out, they're bound to make it work

My whole issue with this card is that I still want to buy games on the eShop. I'd like to have the option of using the card but doing so requires a version that's not compatible with the eShop. I always update so I can buy what I want and this won't allow that. It's a strange predicament to be in for sure... lol

But I'm glad to see things advancing.

Well I guess depending on how many game's you'd download to use on gateway, you could end up saving money buying a second 3DS and keeping it on 4.5. That's what I did to play 360 games online.

Just wait it out, they're bound to make it work, but now that it's been decrypted by some douche, they'll probably kill GW off...no thanks to the morons who decrypted it
A. it's still fucking impossible for anyone to figure out exactly what it would do without a RAM setup
B. anyone with this setup and the dedication could probably decrypt it himself
C. if anything, competition will push them to make their card better instead of being like "well there's no alternative, they'll buy it anyway"
D. CFW is preferable anyway
E. if your business is based on cloning and piracy, can you really complain about cloning?

I like the idea of CFW, it would make things a lot easier, but we won't see that for quite a while I'm sure. No, I guess you're right about complaining, it's just far too often, when things get leaked, decrypted, a lot of hackers decide to rage-quit. Maybe it will indeed motivate them to work harder and eventually release custom firmware. Only time will tell ;)

Man i sure do hope for a CFW, imagine SNES or GBA running buttery smooth on your 3DS
But yeah i think we are FAR away from CFW, maybe a softmod is possible though in the near future.
But like Arras said: we need a RAM dump, or we won't come ANYWHERE.

I'm sorry but why are people butthurt just because their precious piracy-able card is decrypted? This shouldn't matter whether Gateway dies or not either way we're going to be seeing so much progress in the next few days be it from Gateway or not but I still believe that we'll be going through a ps3 case scenario where the dongle dies and will lose support this is because we're not actually looking at any big progress apart from breaking the region free because if people believe spoofing the firmware will be their solution in the future then you're wrong because firstly a game like Animal Crossing is still unplayable due to the Nand saving and plus Nintendo could implement new keys into their future games where the card becomes obsolete until they crack the new firmware. I'll say Gateway team are capable to keep the card alive until they manage to be able to get games running on the latest firmware otherwise no.

Same here. I'm going to have to wait until it works for 6.1.
Now all they need is multiple roms per SD.

This. But I still wouldn't mind buying it now.

People are mentioning reverse engineering the Gateway to allow a SD style hack. How come a flashcart was always needed to play DS games? Couldn't someone have simply reverse engineered one of the more popular DS cards, like Acekard, and not make a cart a necessity? Seems like if reverse engineering couldn't be done for a DS it wouldn't be done for a 3DS.
The DS has no user-usable internal storage, and the only external space... were the game cart slots.

The SD slot didn't come until the DSi, four years later, and by then Nintendo had tightened down their crap... and by the time DSi stuff came (iEvo and Sudoku) people didn't give much of a crap anymore since it had been so long that even your average contract cell phone was ~4x as strong and capable as the DS (and now there's fullspeed DS emulators for smartphones).

Btw is the gateway able to input cheats? I'm certainly happy about their achievement by eventually making your 3DS region free, but on the other side I kinda hope that it either never gets the chance to input cheats or get online altogether, online gaming without hacks is a nice feature when playing in the 3DS.
No cheats yet, but hopefully this gen Nintendo's keeping things server-client instead of P2P, making most cheats non-functional online.

But that's just hope, the only time I've seen firsthand it is with Pokemon.

I find it funny how the attitude has gone from "this gateway thing is a scam", "this thing will never work" to "this thing seems kinda cool, still sucks though since I updated and clearly that is their fault" to "gateway is the savior of gaming but it still sucks since I updated".

I mean you didn't even have to update past 4.5 to play any games (other than M&L now). I hope they never get it working past 4.5, a nice treat to those who waited (not necessarily for the gateway though) and didn't update.
To be fair, 5.x did come out before the Gateway's announcement, back when the only thing that people knew about was what Neimod and yellows8 were doing, which they made very clear they would never release.

Damn, looking at this makes me want to get one right now. I don't even have a 3DS :/. I guess I'll wait for them to make it even better than what it is now, I'll have to wait until they can make a multi-rom UI in one SD card, when that comes out, I'll gladly buy a 3DS (hopefully I don't need to buy from someone selling their used 3DS with the required firmware for 10x the price in the stores.) Hopefully in the future, you'll be able to buy a brand new 3DS, and know that GW will work on it. I'm pretty excited for this. If they can get CFW on there, and have the option to play GBC/GBA games. But that's a long time from now.

True, and that would certainly explain the confusion or at least, the uncertainty of what will happen with those who have 5.x or 6.x firmware on their 3DS, but knowing this team, they're bound to pull off something crazy and make a CFW or at least, a way for those who accidentally updated (like me ROFL), that's for sure :P
