Want free games? who doesn't. In the run up to Christmas Club Nintendo will be giving away free copies of Donkey Kong for the 3DS when certain games are bought and registered with them. These games incude Crossword Plus, Professor Layton and the Miricle Mask, Paper Mario Sticker Star, Art Academy and Style Savvy. The version of Donkey Kong being given away is one that was previously exclusive to Red Wii models which was the Nes version with all the arcade levels added back in. More details found in at the video at this link

I'm not going to complain about free BUT could we maybe get an *arcade port* this time instead of the NES game?

(Yes, I know: I'm an entitled monster and should be ashamed for even speaking this aloud blahblahblah, but I'd really like an arcade port. Just this one time. Please.)

It sounds like you have to buy them from the eshop, so no thanks I'd rather have a physical copy.

Or you could go here

but could you play it on your 3ds?

No, but i think its a really poor deal, at least make it a game thats actually worth it. not a game that is so old that the main character wasnt even called mario at the time. I know its free but im kinda getting fed up of nintendo offering such lame deals for you to pay out money for and also register you so they can spam-bomb you with more advertising.

You're thinking on the wrong track. These will be given out to people who buy the games, and register them. So instead of getting just coins, they'll also get a free download of Donkey Kong. While I agree it's not the best prize it's better than just getting coins. Great little bonus for people who were already going to buy those games.

Kids these days don't appreciate the classics. My little brother couldn't understand why I paid $5 just to download Galaga a couple months ago. Donkey Kong is probably somewhere in my top 10 arcade games (admittedly, my exposure to arcade games is somewhat limited having grown up in the middle of nowhere), and this'll be a nice add-on to my Paper Mario preorder.

Yeah, how awful that they are FORCING you to buy these other TERRIBLE games first and then FORCING you to register them to get Donkey Kong.

I'm not sure how it's even possible to complain about this.

Nobody is saying you are being forced to do anything. They just think that (and I'm inclined to agree) paying for digital copies of the qualifying games isn't worth the arcade game. With a digital copy, you can't trade it in at a store, and you can only play it on the 3DS you downloaded it on. If it's available on eShop, you would probably be making a better financial decision to buy a physical copy of any of the listed games and buying Donkey Kong. If it's not available on the eShop, you would still have more benefits over a digital copy.

@Xdqwerty, People who create revival services for the Wii end up in disaster, same goes for Pretendo lol.

@SylverReZ, atleast wiimmfii went fine although people only use it for Mario kart Wii
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
At least if they ban you for cheating, get another Wii. They're cheap as chips.

Remember when RiiShop was a thing?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
    not really
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It got shutdown because somebody "accidentally" leaked the database for the amount of people using the beta.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
RiiShop is the laziest way of downloading Wii games. Did somebody not think of this through?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
although i ended up accidentally changing my nand with no way of going back bc i didn't know you needed a gamecube controller to restore it (i have a wii minus/1.1, which doesn't have gamecube controller support)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, I think you're talking about the recovery mode that the SaveMii used, and also was to restore softbricked systems.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If your NAND was hardbricked, then just buy another Wii. Or go with the dirty NAND flasher method.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and if i find the sd card i have my NAND backed up on, i can not only restore the NAND if i solder the right part in, but i can also put my NAND on dolphin, then i can play dolphin online, like PMEX Remix or MKWii Riibalanced
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    Brb
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, Oh yeah, that was a thing too. Dolphin does support Wiimmfi.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
yeah you just need to put your NAND backup with wiimmfi on it
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
ngl i feel like if a bunch of my friends have wiis and know how to get wiimmfi and back up their NAND, then we could do a PMEX Remix tournament
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
maybe even add UMVC3/DBFZ and make it a biathlon/triathlon
