Xbox and Nintendo enter 10-year deal to bring Call of Duty games back to Nintendo systems

The Microsoft-Activision merger hasn't happened quite yet, but Microsoft is making plans presuming that the deal will go through eventually. CEO Phil Spencer has announced that Microsoft and Nintendo have entered into a 10-year-long deal, which will see the Call of Duty franchise brought to Nintendo's platform. This would mark the first time the series has returned to Nintendo systems since 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts, which was released for the Nintendo Wii U.

Microsoft has offered the same deal to PlayStation as well, who at the time of writing has not accepted, all while antitrust and government regulators continue to go back and forth over whether or not the finalized acquisition of Activision would be fair to the market. Previously, Microsoft has been incredibly vocal about not making Call of Duty into an Xbox exclusive franchise. Spencer also revealed that Call of Duty games will continue to release simultaneously on Steam for PC players, assuming that the deal goes through.

I still remember playing modern warfare on the Wii and what a low poly mess it was in comparison to the 360 version.

I suspect much of the same. Still, it's nice to hear there is one less exclusive game franchise on the market. More options is better.

Well, if the rumors and speculation is right, this will probably start on the next Nintendo console. That said, if it never meant to become an exclusive, are they going to renew every 10 years?

Wasn't the last call of duty game for wii u, and didn't even get dlc? :blink:
Yep, Call of Duty: Ghosts was the last one and it was as you said on the Wii U.
Edit: It was in the article, my bad.

It's about damn time CoD is coming back to a Nintendo console. Even if they bring back older games, port at least BO2 to the Switch. (and this time with Zombies...)

10 years to make a CoD game run on a switch?

Fair
Don't forget about the storage. I just hope it isn't a 100GB game. :rofl2::unsure:

Considering that none of the recent CoDs would be able to run on the switch, it really only leaves their mobile versions like CoD Mobile and the upcoming Warzone Mobile.
Ports of older games or even switch exclusives are possible but less likely imo. The switch does have a lack of good multiplayer fps shooters.

Proof 4k switch with dlss
i highly doubt this, imo the 4k switch will be the next gen switch, they wont waste 4k on a mid gen updgrade specially when the switch is 6 years old in 3 months. imo by year 7-8 we will get switch 2 so its a waste to release a mid gen upgrade that will only last 2 years before being useless.
