OK, dumb question. For those emus that support it do I need a modded wii, or will it work fine with an unmodded one?

You must have the dvd access library installed (get it here) and then it will work with an unmodded wii.

libdi is only for developers who want to integrate DVD support in their software.
for users, there is dvdx. that is all you need.

You're not too bright are you?
If you want to load ROMs off DVDs, use Normal Install or install it on IOS36.
One or the other.

And about the "upcoming 005 snes9x", that post was on September 5th.
