I recently purchased a third party WiiU gamecube controller adapter and it does not seem to recognize my controllers at all. I checked the Nintendon't manual page and under compatible USB devices it lists "All third parties Wii U GameCube Controller Adapter clones" as compatible yet this one doesn't work. I am wondering if it is because my Gamecube games are injects. Do you have to run the games through Nintendon't to get the adapter compatibility, or will will injects work?

I just stopped by my local game reseller and he mods systems as part of his business. I mentioned I was looking for an actual Nintendo Wii-U GameCube adapter as I would like it to work with injects and he said that it never worked for him over several mods.

It sounds like it should work with USB Loader (according to the Nintendon't website, i haven't tried yet) but will not work with injects from the Wii-U GUI.

Plug it in to your pc and get the vendor and device ID. They may be the same as the one I just purchased and had to create the .ini file for it with settings I found in another thread here. The one I got has a switch on it for PC or WiiU/Switch mode. For me the switch needs to be set to PC mode for it to properly function with the .ini file and nintendont.

Edit:
Just made an inject and tested it. It works so I think you just need to create the .ini file for your adapter.

Thanks, This is good info to know. I actually decided to buy the actual Nintendo brand Wii-U adapter (Model: WUP-028) and was interested to try your solution. I just showed up to today and when I tested it upon arrival it just worked with my injects no problem. I have it plugged into my front USB ports, since the rear ones house my external harddrive.

Fringle - If you could find that thread and link it here it would be very helpful for the next person.

After doing some research, from what I read you would download (or create?) these .ini files (depending on your model) and put them in a folder called "controllers" on your sd card.

I tested the Nintendo brand Wii-U GameCube adapter with multiple controllers in Mariokart: Double Dash and they all worked (for all players 1-4). After that, I tested a WaveBird and that also worked just fine. When loading the game, you want to choose not to use the gamepad so it doesn't override other controller connections. Hope this helps others who are where I once was. Cheers!

You can grab it from over on the Nintendont thread. A user by the name of Zurdonx just uploaded a more complete version of the one I created. I'm now using theirs and it works as well. Just download the ini file and place it in the controllers folder on the sd card. I assumed the one I have would work in wii u/switch mode since in that mode it shares the device and vendor id with the nintendo branded one but something must be different about since it fails to function unless in pc mode with the specified ini file.

Sadly that's not true. Some 3rd party adapters are sharing the IDs but others don't. This is cause the Wii U itself doesn't care about the IDs but checks what device is connected with other things. Nintendont on the other side is a homebrew, so it checks the IDs instead.

Anyway, for Wii U / Switch mode one should be able to use this .ini file by changing the device and vendor IDs (PID and VID) : https://github.com/FIX94/Nintendont...ontroller_Nintendo_Wii_U_GameCube_Adapter.ini
For PC mode there's this: https://github.com/FIX94/Nintendont/blob/master/controllerconfigs/controller_Generic_GC Controller Adapter.ini

These are official .ini files from Nintendont, not some random files from random users. ;)

Thanks for clarifying. For some reason even though in Wii U/Switch mode mine shares the ID's with the Nintendo branded adapter it still doesn't work with Nintendont. I'm not to worried about it though cause it does work in PC mode with the ini file.

Is this only for the official WiiU adapter or can I use this for my generic adapter I got from amazon? Im currently using the random user .ini file and would like to use the nintendont file..

Should work for generic, too, you just might have to change VID and PID as explained previously.

The first link that was posted should also work while in pc mode. https://github.com/FIX94/Nintendont...ontroller_Nintendo_Wii_U_GameCube_Adapter.ini Just have to rename the file to the 0079_1846.ini and put it in the controllers folder. You will also have to do the same for the official adapter one as well but rename it with the id's of the official adapter and then switch your adapter to Wii U/Switch mode.

You're sure about that, cause I see VID and PID inside of the file: https://github.com/FIX94/Nintendont...ler_Nintendo_Wii_U_GameCube_Adapter.ini#L2-L3
Maybe it's just an assumption but I always though if you had multiple ini files they had to be named to match the id's of the device you're using. That is unless you only need one and store it in the root of the sd card where it must be named controller.ini. Maybe it's just for ease of use but when you download the controllers.zip file that is how they are all named anyway.

Exactly. That one works for me when I have named as I stated above. The second one doesn't work for my adapter at all even when in Wii U/Switch mode.
so I used the first .ini official WiiU adapter and named it 0079_1846.ini and have the adapter switched to "WiiU/switch" and my controller doesnt work.. if i switch to "PC" the game refuses to launch

If it's actually the official adapter you'd use the second one. If it's a 3rd party adapter, put it in pc mode and use the first one named to 0079_1846.ini and put it in the controllers folder.
This ini file here. https://github.com/FIX94/Nintendont/blob/master/controllerconfigs/controller_Generic_GC Controller Adapter.ini
As far as I'm aware, official adapters don't have a pc mode.
Do I delete the notes in the 3rd party .ini file https://github.com/FIX94/Nintendont/blob/master/controllerconfigs/controller_Generic_GC Controller Adapter.ini or can I leave those in there?

okay so I went ahead and just placed the .ini file as is with notes and switched to PC mode and its working, thank you!
Will this .ini file work with 4 controllers?
