This is in regards to Yooka-Laylee which I've seen across many fans anticipating this game.
I completely understand the development team behind the game and their history regarding Nintendo. They've made some outstanding games that have touched many people and created memorable childhoods including mine but I've put that in the past and I'm seeing the gaming landscape that is today. I now have a PC as my main platform for gaming and my Nintendo systems that are secondary since they help fill that 1st party exclusivity that I enjoy.
However if something were to release on both Nintendo consoles and PC 9/10 times I will pick the PC version for all the reasons I dont think I have to say. I'd say picking Nintendo for the game is pretty incentivizing since the Switch will allow portability (PCs can be portable too) but even before the development for the Switch it was intended for the Wii U which is less of a portable console. People have this false notion that simply because the development worked previously on Nintendo systems in the past mean the experience will somehow translate it to being better but is brand loyalty in this case doing you any favors?
Companies are not our friends and people become too emotionally attached to the name association rather than whats under the hood. As far as I'm concerned the portability with the Switch is a good reason to buy it for the Switch but to me thats a weak excuse since PCs can also go portable too. Even if we leave out PCs for one moment the other two console manufacturers have much stronger hardware even beyond what the Switch can offer and yet people still insist on paying for this lower end version simply because of the name.
Unless Rare fans are secretly masochistic and want dirt rubbed into their eyes I'm not seeing the need to support a platform that cant deliver a better experience, of course this exception is extended to those that ONLY have Nintendo systems then excuse me then.
