Maybe it's not necessarily the right word for it but on Amazon UK it's going between £43-64 and on eBay slightly lower around £26-51.

New Super Luigi U isn't even really a game per say, it's just a glorified DLC (from New Super Mario Bros. U) turned to a retail game (like Captain Toad) but to reach this stage, that's quite an accomplishment.

This one game also stands as odd from the rest due to the cover being all green and the case too being green (could be misled as an Xbox 360 game).

I thought so but it's a bit hard to believe because this is a DLC game at its best. I don't know how people can see this to be so valuable.
People don't. It was part of the Year of Luigi campaign and Nintendo set a high price tag on it to commemorate Luigi for the year 2013 (hence the special green case, etc.). Coupled with a low print run we quickly get to what defines prices in the market: supply and demand. :)

Yeah, you're right. It's shitty of Nintendo to not have given us Luigi's Mansion 2 on Wii U while "The Year of Luigi" was still a thing.

PAL cover of New Super Luigi U looks pretty sweet:

Yeah, the good games seem to be coming only for 3DS. Luigi's Mansion was on GameCube so why would the sequel be on 3DS?! Then they release a new Mario & Luigi for 3DS during the Year of Luigi as well. Wii U only got this glorified DLC (yippee). And Nintendo wonders why nobody cares about Wii U.

I'm getting pissed off now that I thought about that new Fire Emblem game, too. If Intelligent Systems has been working on a new Fire Emblem for 3DS all along, then who the **** is working on SMTxFE? Don't tell me that got canned and the team shifted its resources to the 3DS (yet again).

The Nintendo Direct was really crappy for Wii U games but 3DS owners are getting a blast this year with games.

SMTxFE might not be released considering Nintendo's ditching the Wii U for 3DS more and more.
Don't people read threads anymore? :)

The thing about it is that while I get the supply's low, the demand shouldn't really be that much because it's nothing more than DLC content on a disc.

Yeah yeah it's in limited print but that's the part I don't quite understand. I guess it comes down to just being the only Luigi game on Wii U and people love owning limited edition stuff.

Adding more fuel to the fire: the new 3DS Fire Emblem is called... "Fire Emblem if" (in Japan at least, watch the first few minutes of the Japanese Direct). If that sounds familiar (I'm a hardcore SMT fan) then it shouldn't be surprising that there was "Shin Megami Tensei if..." at some point as well. Over the top speculation or perhaps evidence of Intelligent Systems nodding a now-cancelled collab with Atlus? SMTxFE is dead it seems. Makes no sense for them to release a new FE game for 3DS now. It'd at least push SMTxFE to 2016 or beyond if the project is still ongoing.

You answered your own question. Much like the limited edition Year of Luigi 3DS XL, that stuff was just made to be limited issue. Supply is extremely low and demand is low as well. However, demand still outweighs the extremely low supply and that's why the price is what it is.

-It's rare.
-It's a collector's item.
-It's a celebratory release.
-It's Mario.

Anyone can download the DLC, but it has no physical value. It's unlimited in quantity and is always available.
The hard copy is special and limited.

New Super Luigi U feels very out of place:

I don't even know how to make it look in place because it's one of a kind for a Wii U game case/cover.

NSLU was supposed to be my first WiiU game, but then the Mario+Luigi bundle came out, so I bought the bundle.
However, I will still like a physical copy of NSLU for collection, because the cover rocks and most of all, Luigi rocks.

The NSMBU + NSLU bundle while it doesn't hold as much value as the NSLU game alone it'd still sell for more than NSMBU only. I recently bought another copy of NSLU for £14 and seeing it's going for up to £40 I think I might keep it just in case the value increases. :P

I know that people with attitude like this are referred to as assholes but they're also just looking for an investment.

Its £18 on CEX website, its not really rare, a sealed one is as is the norm with sealed games that are no longer produced but this one definitely isn't rare.
