More or less, that is. And I finally have to replace it. Since I was so satisfied with their product and since Google and my usual sources are coming up dead, I was wondering if anyone had a reliable site where I could purchase another. I wouldn't trust eBay, as I don't want to spend $50.00 or odd dollars on something that might not work. So if anyone has any good links for me, I'd most appreciate it.

Please help when you have the time. I realize that it's been years since the DS Lite has been released but I'm sure that this great flashcart can be found somewhere....

I use a cyclods as well so I can sympathize with you, unfortunately I imagine they are quite hard to find since they haven't been made in a long time and team cyclops vanished off the face of the earth again after releasing the cyclodsi. The flashcard market is pretty much completely dominated by the supercard ds2 and the r4i gold now. (and to a lesser extent a acekard 2i) Since you bought a cyclo i'm guessing price doesn't matter much so I'd say go with a supercard ds2, I've heard they are pretty good.

Thanks for the advice. I like the CycloDs's built-in features though. How does the SuperCrad DS2 stand up to it? And the R4i Gold?

I feel you. I have and use a CycloDS daily. I also have a DSTWO and would suggest getting it. It has all features the CycloDS has, plus if you upgrade to the 3DS, the SuperCard will work for you.

The Supercard DSTwo? It surpasses of the CycloDS's features.

The real time menu prominently is far better on the DSTwo.
DSTwo vs CycloDS
Real time menu loads/dismisses instantly - Real time menu may take considerable time to load depending on the microSD card
You get four real-time save slots which save/load very quickly, and are very stable - Only one real-time save per game and it must be created before launching the rom
An unlimited number of .txt and .bmp files can be assigned to any ROM, with a nice touch interface and word-wrapping - A tiny font on the top screen which has no word wrap, so you must use the d-pad to pan the text up and down and all around.

The CycloDS does have a slow-mo feature though, I do not believe the Supercard DSTwo does that.
But the DSTwo does let you toggle ANY cheats on and off on the fly, I think the CycloDS only let you disable your current selection IIRC.
Plus the DSTwo can do memory hacking, overwriting values in seeked addresses. For when cheat codes don't exist yet, easily max out your cash on your own!

Not to mention that the CycloDS is more expensive, does not work on DSi or 3DS, is no longer supported by Team Cyclo, it's just not sensible to buy one any more when the DSTwo is SO MUCH BETTER.

I understand brand loyalty, absolutely! The CycloDS was a fantastic card in its hay day, but today belongs to the Supercard DSTwo and to a lesser extent the Wood compatible R4i Gold, being the two major flashcarts that'll run on a 3DS.

AKAIK there's one reason and only one to use a CycloDS over a DS2: the DS2 drains your battery faster. The DS2 is superior in pretty much every other way. You can buy one from a trusted reseller here: http://nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=135

....Well, that's just bloody FANTASTIC. And I say that in terms of being impressed. Can I convert my old saves from my Cyclo to the Supercard? Is Moonshell still compatible? I have many questions, but I'm sold on getting a Supercard at this point.

And the DSTWO has better media capabilities as well as a GBA emulator and tons of other neat apps.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I've bought a Supercard from Arras's link and am eagerly awaiting it arriving in the mail. On a final note, if anyone has any useful links to how the Supercard works with file structure (since that was slightly important for the CycloDS Evolution) or any links to any useful homebrew gadgets, it would be most helpful to me if you'd post them. Once I understand how the Supercard "works" (aka where everything goes and is stored) I'll be set for a LONG time. I'm not an idiot, though, I KNOW there has to be topics on this here at GBATemp. You guys are pro at this....but that's why I'm asking you in the first place. Better to teach a man to fish than to just hand him a cooked one, ami right?

That should be everything you need, since you've already dealt with another flash cart.

Sorry to revive a dead topic, but it's finally arrived in the mail and I'm just now looking over your instructions.

...There seems to be a lot of un-needed code in the forum post. I assume that it's a problem carried ovr from when GBATemp got hacked. Still, it's making it hard to read....anyone have un uncorrupted version?

It's from the forum move, and no there's not an uncorrupt version.
I
ll just go ahead and make a thread in the site suggestion forum, a bunch of threads like this have been broken since the move, a conversion needs to be done.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
