I want SOLID opinions on BOTH flashcarts. I am looking at both the iSmart MM and the DSTWO. What I want to know for each is:

DSTWO:
-How good is the AP?
-How often are the updates?
-Download play: how does it work?
-Can it run EVERY video format?
-Homebrew? (SNES, GBA, GBC, NES, etc...)
-Save format?

iSmart MM:
-Which team runs this? (Well, to add detail, who is the team, and how good are they?)
-How good is the AP?
-How often are the updates?
-Download play: how does it work?

I don't have an iSmart MM, but I can talk about the DStwo.

• Its Anti-piracy circumvention is top notch, many new games I have tried all work flawlessly. If there is a game that doesn't work, it's always just a minor technical issue unrelated to anti-piracy.
• The updates are reasonably regular, but the core firmware hasn't been updated recently. Why? There's simply no need!
• It should work just fine but I haven't had the chance to try it. (Mario Kart has always been a problem game for me)
• It can run a good number of videos, but some might not play properly, usually the case with youtube's FLVs. It is very easy to convert to a suitable AVI format though, and you can have full-resolution, high quality videos for it.
• It's native GBA emulator is great, very accurate and good speeds, only needs so much frame skip.
• The SNES emulator comprises speed for accuracy and compatibility, something that SNEmulDS is lacking.
• Uses .sav files just as the original R4DS, Wood R4, AKAIO, and CycloDS do.

I seem to be just on the bleeding edge of this stuff.
I got an R4 when they were all the rage.
I switched to an Acekard 2.1 a year later cause the R4 went unsupported.
And now I want a DSTwo cause they are ballin. Slot 1 GBA emulation? yes please.

Have you got a DS Lite? Because you'd do better to get an EZ-Flash 3in1 instead of a DStwo, just for GBA games.
The GBA emulation is pretty good, but it's flawed, the 3in1 plays games on native hardware perfectly.

So, having not played with my DS for over a year, the time has come for me to get back in the thick of it and upgrade to a new flashcard.
I'm currently leaning towards an M3i Zero, as it has the features that I want and at a good price.
As I have an old DS phat I doubt I'll have to flash it more than once.
Features important to me are cheats... and that's it, basically.
I won't be running any homebrew or viewing any videos or music.
I don't really care if I can't play the latest game on the day of release as I have a lot of catching up to do with older games (although it would be nice if there were updates so I could play them within a reasonable timeframe).
As for GBA games, I'll keep my current M3 Perfect SD if I want to play any of those.
Also, long term support would be nice, I'd like to have a card that works for the remainder of the DS's life as a platform.

Any opinions?

This. You're better with a slot 2 GBA emulator, though. I was in the same situation and couldn't help myself but to get the SuperCard DSTwo. It's a pretty good card, with the SNES and GBA Slot-1 emulators and DivX player; but I think anyone on this situation with a DSLite that doesn't wanna spend lots of money should get an EZ-Flash or something like that. The current slot1 GBA emulator has good compatibility as it was just upgraded recently IIRC, and the SNES emulator has a great one too; but if you're short on money and your DSLite is already old on battery life (like mine

) you'd be better with the other option.

I would suggest an Acekard2i with AKAIO. You don't want the extras, and AKAIO gets timely enough updates. The cheat database for every file type is very up to date, and you can edit it to include what you want and don't want.

There is also the original R4 that supports the Wood firmware. The Wood firmware is very up to date and works perfectly. The only flaw of the original R4 is the lack of SDHC support making it so you can only use 2gb or lower MicroSD cards.

The R4idsn also officially supports the Wood firmware and supports MicroSDHC cards allowing for higher memory capacity.

The Acekard2i is only about $15, the Original R4 is about $6 or so depending on where you buy it from. I would suggest the Acekard2i over the R4idsn.

the r4idsn team are also pretty active

Can i get any extra information about my old R4i card ? It's this one http://www.r4i-sdhc.com/aboute.asp , but the old 1.4 version. Can you recommend any good software to put on it to make it work with a NDSL ?
Also I was using this card when I updated to 1.4.1 , someone has mentioned it might be "bricked" is this likely ?
