The Penguin Bar to stop serving torrents

Following a decision to shut down its tracker in November 2009, file-sharing titan The Penguin Bar now says it is completely abandoning .torrent downloads a month from now and instead will only provide so-called magnet links.

It's not like I get a majority of my torrents (mostly being anime) from there, so...

i have never seen the positives in torrents. it is the easies way to get caught downloading illegal things. i have my ways of finding things, and ill stick with that.

In the age of DHT you can download "torrents" tracker-less and .torrent-less anyways, so I don't think it will cause any issues whatsoever.

Not much difference, just no more tons of them .torrent files anymore. I usually add trackers myself anyways.

It's one of the easiest systems to automate downloads for, and pretty good for large groups of files. Great for things like weekly TV releases and maybe downloading complete seasons, but beyond that it really is an inconvenience.

Ehh, I only use torrents if I can't find anything on various filesharing sites instead. So no loss to me.

They're still serving torrents, guys, they're just only in magnet links now to avoid censorship.
