There IS no purpose to life, minus 42. Not everything is super philisophical. Life's just...there. Live you life how you want to.

The meaning of life (at its most basic) is to:
1. Survive.
2. Follow instincts.
3. Seek pleasure and avoid pain.
4. Learn to seek pleasure and avoid pain better.
5. Continue the cycle of #1-#4 until #1 is no longer possible.

Life has yet to be demonstrated to have any further basic meaning than this.

Having complex brains makes these steps complicated for humans.
