Just check those before asking. It's obvious that she didn't come here in 2 months

Hi! I'm so happy to have someone working on this again! I played through the game like 3 or 4 times on PSP with a guide because I love it so much! I don't know much about hacking or coding, but if you ever want help with translations then I'll totally help you guys out the best I can with some of the free time past my school projects and etc! :DDDDD

Not jenachu, but I am on the team for this project! It's been a while and I was poking around here for other reasons, so I figured I'd drop in to let those interested know that we're still hard at work on this! We had a bit of slowdown in the second half of 2019 due to most everyone on the team having a lot of obligations to handle. But we've been steadily getting back on track; the last couple of weeks, I've been polishing up a lot of the menu texts. We've got things working on native hardware, and some minor QoL fixes on the table as well.

We're definitely still a ways off, since we still have a ton of text to work through. We have some loose goals set for progress and once we meet those, we'll post a much more formal announcement. While we felt close last year, we definitely feel now that we wanted to have a little more polish on things before showing anything of. But the project isn't dead, even if we've been quiet. We want this to be the highest quality possible, so we're taking our time to make sure that every string of text is polished!

Keep it up, we don't mind the long wait, ever since AbsoluteZero abandoned their projects we are grateful that you guys are willing to take on the task of giving ToD2 a proper translation that it deserves.

Just finished playing through this and found myself feeling really sad that so many people have not been able to experience this incredible game. Using a translation guide + menu patch makes it possible to enjoy the game but it's seriously not the full experience. You have my full support, if you need any help please feel free to ask. Aside from that, may the project proceed smoothly and when it doesn't don't let it get you down!

It's definitely not being abandoned by any means. It's slow-moving, but steadily making progress despite some hiccups. There's no ETA on an official announcement, but we're still operating on the same goals to meet before we show anything off. We want to ensure that the quality of what we show is to our standards, and that we've made a reasonable amount of progress overall first and foremost.

Not a lot to update on aside from the turn of the year bringing about a lot of work for the whole team! There's been a lot of work on the back end to fix some QoL issues and make sure the text implementation works well on native PSP hardware/resolution as well as looking good in emulators. Unlike some of the later games (like Rebirth or Destiny Remake), Destiny 2's entire text rendering needed to be reworked—among some other things we're working on to make the experience smoother. Translation and editing is going at a steady clip; some pretty big progress was made over the last month, but we've still got a long way to go in ensuring all the text is up to par.

One of the things we're working on right now is the game's quiz book—which is huge! There's about ~6000 strings of text for that minigame, much of which contains trivia for previous Tales games, including escort titles that were never localized. So part of our work includes making sure we can check terminology against other games, and even checking playthroughs for the things we're not sure of, contextually, to ensure everything is accurate. Of course, we're also finalizing a lot of other text, like that of the skits while still working on the game script, which makes up the majority of the text we have left at this point.

Other than that, we have set an internal release goal, though we definitely won't be sharing that until we're sure we can make it—and we'll definitely be showing off content well before that point. We're presently planning for the "official" announcement, the proper wide one for beyond just this thread. There's no specific timeline on that because of how we want to present the materials, but once we do that initial announcement, we'll be showing off progress and updating those interested more often, even if just with percentages.

Just another small update, though it's really more to say: Watch this space!

We recently crossed a pretty big progress number on both the first pass translation and first pass editing sides of the text. We still have a decent amount of text to go and a lot of editing to do in order to make sure everything is consistent and high-quality, and some dialogue that doesn't have text transcribed yet that we still have work to do on. Other backend things are coming along very nicely, a couple of surprise quality of life adjustments are being tested.

Our true announcement is on the horizon, though! This will include visuals, a first peek at some of the in-game content, and a bit of a breakdown about added features and what's going on behind the scenes to make this the very best patch we can put out. We'll have a full blog to properly discuss and share progress, and there's an additional announcement we'll be making alongside our big Destiny 2 dump. We're all getting excited (and a little impatient, admittedly!) to share what we've been working so hard in over the last couple of years. I know I speak for everyone working on the game when I thank everyone who has kept tabs on this thread, offered help and moral support. So much work has gone on for us to get where we are now—so just a little more patience, and I can promise we'll have a lot to show, and much, much more in the way of sufficient updates in just a few weeks' time, at most. We may not have an exact date, but we have ton to show—this project is very much so alive and moving at an incredible clip thanks to everyone's efforts.
