I emailed TX and got an obvious copy + paste response that made it clear they literally couldn't even be bothered to read my email. Seriously starting to regret this purchase if this is the level of professionalism I can expect from them.

That is their level of professionalism. The worst part is that this website is full of modshipdirect SHILLS and mods will find any excuse to lock/delete post that say MDC is garbage.

I have it charged up with the green light, latest boot.dat file on SD card (even redownloaded it to make sure it wasn't corrupted). Nothing is getting the dongle to push the payload. I know it's getting into RCM correctly because I was able to boot SX OS unactivated with TegraRCMgui. Tried booting it both with the dongle in on power, and tried putting it in after powering up, neither did anything. I've emailed both ModChipsDirect and Team Xecuter about this issue, but wanted to post here to see if anyone else has run into this issue and/or has come up with a solution.

It's up to you, but depending on how good your soldering and electronic skills are, you could open up the dongle, see what capacitors they use and just buy some replacement caps and just fix it yourself then re-seal it with some hot glue.

Just sounds like a batch of bad caps, which happens on all electronic devices.

I considered this, but MDC finally got back to me and is having me send it back so they can send it a replacement.

That email was from Team Xecuter, not ModChipsDirect.

Yeah level of professionalism, mr hater

Did all of you guys order from ModChipsDirect?

No, I bought mine from switchsx. I sent them an email about the defect and doesnt get a response. I had to open a case on paypal and still no response, The have time to answer until thursday. After that time paypal will take care about it.

Hi. I have the exact same issue.

I just go my Pro today and it's not working. I'm in RCM and nothing happens. I checked that I was actually in RCM by booting Hekate via TegraSmash, and then I even used the reboot to RCM option, but the dongle is not recognized at all. The Switch just sits there with a black screen.

I bought my dongle on Shop01Media. I've contacted them a few minutes ago, hoping they either exchange this defective unit for a new one or at least for the OS version. At this point, I just want to be able to use the OS, and using TegraSmash with my PC isn't really that bothersome...

Have the same problem :/
Workaround for users without USB C adapters: you can connect the Switch to the dongle and the dongle to your PC and use TegraRcmGUI:
  1. Install TegraRcmGUI on your PC
  2. Install the driver under settings (don't know if you can do it now or you have to do it later)
  3. Select the SX Loader payload in the program (download: https://sx.xecuter.com/#download )
  4. Turn your Switch completely off
  5. Connect your dongle via microUSB to your PC and let it "charge" for a while (don't know if neccessary)
  6. Slide the jig into your Switch
  7. Hold Volume Up while plugging the still connected dongle to your Switch
  8. The Switch should now turn on (or you must do it manually?)
  9. Click "inject payload" in TegraRcmGUI and send the payload to your Switch, click the button and SX OS should boot!
NOTE: At least on my laptop I had to click the inject button fast, because it won't stay connected and the PC couldn't find my Switch anymore. If this happens, just unplug the dongle from the Switch and plug it back in and retry. This saved me, because I have no USB C adapter :D

I've tried this, but only boots SX OS and bypasses the dongle, so the license is still not saved into the console.

Same, i got my sx pro set in the mail today.
the dongle loses the charge after a few minutes without use, and if I want to use it to boot sx os the dongle is dead and does not have enough juice to send the payload until I connect it to a power source the dongle turns yellow for a moment and then turns green after a few seconds and I can only use it one more time to send payload. after that, the dongle is empty again. in the Q & A they talk about a standby of at least 1 week for 1 boot, or for 5 boots, i think i got a broken dongle? I emailed them about my problem but no response from team xecuter. and when i put my ear on the dongle when it is on charge, the super capacitors makes real strange nose anyone have same sound on charge???
Coil whine. It's probably normal.
There are gonna be a small percentage with dead caps, it's just how it goes unfortunately.

I'm waiting to see someone open it up and take some hires pics. I assume it wouldn't be too hard to replace the caps.
Should be easy. But you have to cut the shell and it probably won't look as nice afterwards.
There was a render of the internals posted by someone (probably originates from TX)
Looks like about as easy of a solder job as you can get.

Oh I had already created the license :/ Just check Yes and it will create a license-request.dat, you can then activate it via this website: https://sx.xecuter.com/sxos-license.html

AFAIK, the Pro doesn't work like that. The license is inside the dongle, so you don't need to activate it online like with the OS.

I asked Shop01Media for a refund, so I rather not tinker with this anymore. Hopefully I can get my money back and get the OS instead.

Yes you need to activate it online - either on the Switch or via the website. You have to plug in the dongle, boot SX OS, leave the dongle plugged in, open the album and activate your license OR go to the website.

This is quite intriguing... Maybe a batch of pro dongles could be defective? Did all of you guys order from ModChipsDirect?

I'm about to receive mine, ordered from 3ds-FlashCard, but these stories makes me feel a bit pessimistic about the pro dongle that I'm going to get.

Mine's from 3ds-flashcard and works fine after finally getting it (usps sucks). No sounds or anything from the dongle no problem charging it up, loads SXOS (validated) perfectly well.

Even so, it's clear that the dongle I got is not working. If I need to connect it to a PC every time I need to use it... then I might go with the OS version anyway.

Hopefully I can return it without any issues. Shop01Media hasn't replied yet, but they usually answer within 24 hours.
